I apologize in advance that I do not have exact information for you. I need your help to identify your computer case, from Gateway Support info. Once I know what computer case this 2002 model uses, then we can get the case open. The following link takes you to Gateway Support, and the User Guides for their desktop computers. Starts by showing you computers cases. The information I want to specifically state here, is that you go down below these computer case photos, and look under the heading - Legacy computer user guides. You will see - Using Your Gateway - in blue, and a listing of different shipping dates to the right. I believe we need to be concerned with the one's starting from September 2001 up to January 2003. There are three files listed that have the year 2002 in them. I would like you to click on them one at a time, and see which computer case most closely matches yours. You may find the info you wish, and not have to state what case matches yours, in a comment to me. You may not. Generally looking at the back of these computer cases within this period, (2002), I have found that there is a case cover shipping screw, on the upper right outside edge, that has to be removed. (Right below the oblong shaped Kensington lock hole) After the case cover shipping screw is removed, the side panel slides back. Generally it slides back about 1/2 to 1 inch, then the cover is lifted straight out, and removed. There is also the style where there may be two Cover Release Levers, on this same outside edge. The release levers are pulled down. I await your findings.

Hello, unscrew the two screws that are at the rear left.I think are bigger that the others and pull the side cover toward you or move it on the left and is open:)

Gateway computer LX series need to recycle power before it will go into post.

The only reason I can see in a no POST issue is because of a defective hardware in your computer.

1. Try to remove all the cables at the back of your computer tower and power cycle it for 15 seconds.
2. Plug the power cord back in and the monitor cable only then start your computer.
3. Put the devices one-by-one to your computer tower until you see the faulty device.
4. If no faulty device detected after connecting all the connection at the back of your computer tower.
5. Try to open up your computer tower and reseat your Video card, memory, HD cables and CPU as well.

Let's investigate if the problem will reoccur.

I have a Gateway 300x Micro-Tower case circa 2002 and I can not open the case, without breaking it.

There should be 2 buttons you can press near the side panels and then they just slide right off.
