The printer scans, copies, and prints photos... but won't print on paper. It's hard to get it to take the paper, and when it finally does, it picks up 5/6 pages at a time.... then makes sounds like it's printing and when the papers come out... nothing.... I'm running XP operation system. .

First I try to uninstall the printer, it didn't work, so I reinstall the the printer anyway, it worked for one print only.
As second attempt I disconnected the printer completely, turned the PC off, and after few minutes on again. Uninstalled printer.
Reconnected the cables again, install the printer - it works well!
Connect what two. Computer and printer. Try reinstalling the printer. The cable could be defaulty and If reinstalling the printer does not work, I'll put my money on the cable being defaulty, happens all the time. Exchange it for a working cable. Let me know how it goes.
If the Lexmark software doesn't work you could just try using other software. Picasa http://picasa.google.com is a free photo management software and does a great job of printing photos.
