Where can I purchase these ICs . I have heard of a company here in Allen,Tx that sells a repair kit.I think it's called Have you ever used one of there kits for convergence IC ?

  • texden Feb 06, 2010

The kit comes w/ the OEM Ic's,Resistors, heat sink paste, and detail picture/script instructions. I did repair the capcitors on the DM board a year ago,so i have the desoldering iron and some experience in soldering on circuit boards.

This is wierd, came home after the superbowl and turned the Tv on and everything is straight! Checked the convergence grid and the vert. and horiz. bars aren't cuved. But there is a slight curve on the top left hand corner ( horizontal). The alignment was off a little, so I fine tuned it and the picture looks good. There is a small vert green line on the left side, but its barely noticible. Whats going on here ? Should I go ahead and get the Conv, IC kit or should I check the solder connection on the Convergence Ic's? Have you heard of this problem correcting it's self? The same thing happened with the blinking green light problem. I just unplugged the set for two days and it went through it's boot up and came on,wierd.

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you have to replace the convergence IC and check power resistor for leakage, if values are not exact you have to replace them. The typical cost to get this fixed by a pro is about $300 - and it doesn't mean that he/they will do a job better than you do. The parts are less than $100 (about $20-$30 for the IC's) if you want to do it yourself. Replacing only the IC's MAY solve the problem; however, many people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. Why would you ask should you replace both of the IC's if only one is shot?! If one is shot the other one is not far away and for that little price of the chips it worth changing them both at the same time. Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the repair twice.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

If you want to do the repair yourself then you can buy the kit and use it. However before buying the kit just check with them what all they include in the kit, as apart from the convergence ICs you'll also require soldering iron, solder and a voltmeter. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Great then you can purchase the kit, and thanks for accepting the solution.

Where do u find the fuse in the mitsubishi ws-55513 55in. by the power cord???

Follow the power cord into the back of this TV. You should find a small glass fuse near by. If the fuse is still good, chances are real good that this TV can still be saved. The biggest problem with this TV is the convergence board, which has many, many, many bad grounds that need resoldered. No parts are needed as yet, just some good old fashion rework on the convergence board! Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

Image distortion

In the customer menu select convergence and then with the Mitsubishi remote select advanced, you should see a grid of lines.

If red or blue or green are out of position you have a problem in the convergence circuit.

If so, I have step by step instructions for this kind of repair and it can be a do it yourself job.

There is green and red line that run across the tv on my mitsubishi hdtv ws5513 anyone know what wrong

Go into the customer menu with the Mitsubishi remote and select convergence--then select advanced convergence--it will bring up a grid of lines. The best place to do this is on a blank video input.

If the lines are skewed and red or blue out of position and will not adjust--you have a convergence circuit problem.

They will tell you everything you need and how to do the repair. It involves getting at the parts and replacing them.

Most shops are going to get at least 300 for this repair and the parts cost on Ebay for the parts is under 30 dollars.

Let me know if you want the instructions and if this information helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.
