Those blue characters, such as the ±@£ that are ont he 123 and the «» keys, and so forth, are all part of the Canadian French layout. If you never use them, as I said, just default to US layout, and remove the french canadian keyboard layout.
To use the french keys.. Swithc to the French Candian layout. Find the missing things, like the ? key above the 6, in blue. and the strange ones, like ±¤ and ° are all accessed by pressing "CTRL"+"ALT" and the key, such as 1, 5 or the one with the »«\ and | on it.. (bottom left, by shift)

Thanks

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Monitor not working when plugged into laptop

On some laptops, you need to enable the external monitor port. Look at the number keys across the top of the keyboard. There should be some legends in blue on them. These are associated with the Function (Fn) key. One of the blue legends will most likely activate/deactivate the external monitor port. Press the Fn key along with the associated number key to activate/deactivate the monitor port.

How to turn off blue keys for an Compaq mini cq10??

Hi,

if you are refering to the blue letters or alphabets which are present on the keyboard. HP designs keyboard with a billingual layout in some Notebook models.

The HP "Blue" keys are indeed the "French" input keys or other language keys.

How to use the Blue Symbols or keys on a HP Notebook:

We can activate them by pressing Ctrl+fn+right Shift. To deactivate, press Ctrl+fn+right Shift twice, i.e. Ctrl+fn+right Shift then let go off Shift while still holding Ctrl and fn, then press Shift again.

When you press Ctrl+Fn+Right Shift it will switch to the the billigual layout. That means the blue characters become prioritie.

For example, if you are in the billingual layout, when you press shift+6 you will get a '?' but not the '^' sign.

My A31 is a refurb and a backup computer. It works well but I don't know what the blue keys do or mean. Also, how do I get the Thinkpad button and the mouse to work?

The blue keys are activates using the FN button.
Hole down the FN then tap the blue keys to activate that option

The one with two monitors switches your laptop to external displays etc.
the symbol on each key is a clue as to its function.

You can get the manual here

My laptop keyboard is locked up. A small lighted square immediately above the touchpad is colored orange, rather than the usual blue. How do I unlock?

Where the light is, is also a button, just push the yextured area where the light is and that will activate the touchpad. As far as the keyboard lockup, try holding down the Fn key plus the Num Lock key.

On my hp 6735b laptop I would like to turn off the scroll zone on the touch pad if possible.

You don't specify what system are you using. In Windows you have to go to Control Panel, Mouse and Pointing Device properties, and find your touchpad options there, including the scroll areas.
If it's not there, chances are there is a separate application, either in Control Panel, or in the Start Menu, for setting up the touchpad. You can also look in the system tray beside the clock - often there's an icon there for the pointing device.
