Question about Audio & Video Receivers

Durabrand Radio/CD/DVD Player

I bought the Durabrand Model #HM38170T, CD/Radio. I love it, but every time I turn it on in the morning the volume is not where I left it. The volume is at the maximum instead of at 8 or 9 where it was when I turned it off. Is it defective or is there something I'm suppose to do to control it.

I have the same issue. I blame it on poor design. I have to remember to press the 'FUNCTION' button to get it off of the radio before I turn in off. I then have to remember to turn down the volume when I turn it on.

SOURCE: JVC STEREO PROBLEM

Did you unplug the unit and leave it that way for 10-20 mins and try again?

Check the sound setting on your TV, is it Fixed level out, if so you have to turn volume up on TV to go through the receiver.

SOURCE: The left side sound is intermittent

Sounds like dirt in the volume control or a high resistance speaker wire.
Try switching the right and left speaker wires and see if the problem changes.

I bought a campact disc player (Durabrand; Model CD-896; made by Lenoxx Electronics Corp) which did not include AC adaptor. Now I am trying to find a matching adapter (DC: 4.5V 500mA). Can I find it on...

Power supplies with those specs are common online. Radio Shack could probably set you up with a universal power supply that adapts to all the common plug sizes.

web search "4.5V 500mA dc supply"

I have a Durabrand CD player (model CD-1095) and I can't find the cord to plug it in, so I wanted to buy another cord without having to buy a whole other CD player. Is that possible?

A standard web search found the obvious answer.

"Durabrand CD-1095 power cord"

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_get_a_cord_for_a_Durabrand_CD_player_model_cd_1095

"You can purchase a generic power cord at Radio Shack. I had the same exact model and found that their catalog number 61-2875 was a perfect fit. It lists for $7.99. To be sure, take your radio in for an exact match. Good luck! :o)"

I just bought a Coby home theater system 5.1 surround sound dvd/cd/ player model#765. I've got it all hooked up but I have one problem, when I want to listen to my tv stations through the home theater...

Hi - Your Home Theater System and your TV should have separate volume controls. You should be able to control each individually. Start by checking the volume level on your TV with your HTS shut-off. Turn the volume on your TV all the way down to 0.

Next, turn your HTS on and check the volume level there. Is it still loud? If so, try turning the volume down on your HTS. That should do the trick. If its not loud then you know you can control the volume on either the HTS or the TV. If this answer does not help, then please write us back with a little more detail. Thanks.

Regarding a Yamaha RX-V757 receiver, if I have my volume set above approximately -28, whether I'm playing a DVD or listening to a music CD, the units power shutsoff. When I turn it back on the display says...

Try turning up the volume with just the FM selected (and tuned to a station). If you can adjust the volume to an appreciably higher level when simply tuning in a radio station, then your CD/DVD player may be outputting a signal with a DC offset, which is getting amplified when you turn up the volume, and past a certain point the protection circuitry is sensing too much DC being sent to the speakers and shuts the unit down. If the unit is getting hot, there is likely an internal problem, or you have a shorted speaker wire, or even a bad speaker. Replace the speaker wires as a test, and you can also run the unit with only one speaker connected at a time to see if any are the source of your problem.
Yes, it's possible that there's nothing wrong with the wires or the speakers, and the unit simply needs a trip to the shop, but it's your job to rule out the easy stuff before you pack it up and take it in.
