I have no picture though so how will that work?

  • patrick_olso Feb 06, 2010

well the tv worked fine then I tried it again and it had the blinking lights, then it worked again a day later, now it hasn't worked since. So if the thing that supplies the power is faulty would it be able to work after it is broken?

Hi,
There can be 2 causes of a squealing noise. 1 can be caused by the lamp, if it fails it sometimes squeals when the power supply tries to "jumpstart it". The lamp is in the back of the set with a little door covering it. Unplug tv and open door remove lamp to check it. If it is broken inside or the glass is very cloudy or milky looking lamp is bad.

2. is the color wheel. It is inside the tv the lamp plugs in right next to it. If you hear sound coming from that its the color wheel. That is a lot more difficult to repair than the lamp. this link will take you to an online store to check for prices shopjimmy .

If you have a repairman come out you can expect at least $300-400 dollar for a color wheel replacement and around that for a lamp replacement. Good luck!

the power supply i mentioned was for the lamp only. It would not neccessarily be faulty it would only make that sound if the lamp is bad. So the lamp needs to be looked out. If it looks ok then the squeal is most likely from the color wheel, which in its early stages can stop squealing for a time. I worked on a samsung yesterday that had a bad wheel and a bad lamp. The tv squealed when cold but after a minute or 2 the noise stopped. however shortly here that the tv turned off.

The lamp hours will need to be reset and a new bulb and color wheel will need to be added:
This all probably comes a couple years too late, but when you install a new lamp, you’ll want to reset the hours on the counter your television has. Doing this will allow you to avoid getting any messages about the lamp needing to be replaced despite you having a new lamp inside your set.
If you need to get into the service menu, you can do so by following these directions:
With power on, hold down VOL minus button on projection display and hold down the PIP or SPLIT button (try both) on the remote simultaneously for more than 5 seconds.

If you have no picture what so ever, then either the lamp is bad, or the ballast that supplies power to lamp is faulty or the flyback high-voltage transformer which is the most probable cause on these models is faulty. This flyback provides power to the entire tv set. If it's faulty, you will only have enough power to power up the little lights but nothing else. There should be a label inside the tv set somewhere that says the DC voltage output. Then you can take a voltmeter and test the power from flyack to the main circuit board and see if the voltage rating matches.

It may work for awhile but will eventually quit working altogether

If you hear a squeeling noise, then that would be your color wheel. When you replaced the lamp, did you reset the lamp hours? Did you check the power from ballast with a voltmeter to see if you are getting power to the lamp?

My camera wont turn on.

If the lens is stuck inside the camera and you hear a motor noise - changing batteries will not help. This has happened because the lens barrel is jammed inside the camera. Unfortunately, you will not be able to repair that issue. If the lens is stuck outside the camera, slightly tilted, and you hear a motor noise; you might be able to save camera. First, only use good batteries (stay away from alkaline batteries - waste of money), go with Energizer Lithium or Duracell Power Pix (you will get your moneys worth and have less problems with the camera). Second, very GENTLY, pull the lens barrel up and in the opposite direction of the tilt (to make the lens barrel straight), you will hear a slight click sound - DO NOT PUSH ON THE LENS BARREL!!!. Put in the new batteries and the lens should retract.

The squeeling noise you hear could be the bearings in your power steering pump, when bearings go bad they tend to make a squeeling noise.

Squeeling noise coming from AC, compressor is on, fan not turning

The squealing noise is coming from the compressor. This noise is common when the unit reaches extreamly high pressures. The pressure is most likely high because the fan is not running. Since you can spin the motor it could be that the motor has damaged windings. Leave the unit off until the repairs are made to ensure no further damage to the compressor. You will need a multi meter and some experience reading wiring diagrams to properly diagnose the system. You can perform an amp draw on the motor to see if it is in spec. You can measure the volts to the motor and see if they are in spec. Finally the contactor can be measured with the proper meter to see if it is working properly.

My suggestion is to have the Motor and capacitor both replaced. Also inspect the wiring in the condenser electrical compartment for any signs of damage or burning.

Zenith C27V22 27" TV loud humming noise

There is a coil in the set with a magnet glued to it, called the horizontal linearity coil. Sometimes the coil "sings", making a squeeling sound. I have seen this many times, and there really isnt anything actually electrically wrong with the set. To stop the squeeling the coil should be replaced.

High pitched squeaking sound

THIS PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY THE LINE LINEARITY COIL VIBRATING AT LINE FREQUENCY [15.625KHZ] WHICH IS AUDIABLE TO THE HUMAN EAR AS A SQUEEL . THE CURE IS TO DEPOSIT HOT GLUE AROUND ALL COILS SITUATED AROUND THE LINE OUTPUT TRANSFORMER
