You must connect two sets of speakers to do this.
You must connect them in series.
Meaning, you connect the positive of one to the positive (red) on that reciever. Then you connect the negetive of that speaker to the positive of another four ohm speaker, then run the negetive of that speaker to the negetive on the reciever. Just like if you were connecting batteries together.

Remember never to connect multiple speakers in paralell. (positive to positive and negetive to negetive) as this would make four ohm speakers into a two ohm configuration.

You can use speakers with higher ohm ratings in this setup. For instance, if you connect an eight ohm speaker in series with a four ohm this would give you 12 ohms. Which is also acceptable.

Can I use 4 x 4 ohm speakers on my classic 1980's Blaupunkt London M21 radio cassette player or do I need to use 8 ohm speakers

You can use a 4ohm on it, only difference is that the 8ohm gives you better vocals the a 4ohm but doesnt make any difference in terms on sound. the 4ohm will give you better base out put.

I get my receiver to about 65% volume and it turns off

Check the ohm load for the reciever, then check to see what ohms are of the speakers. make sure they match. 4ohm to 4ohm, 8ohm to 8ohm. If unit feels hot when it shuts off, it's a themal overload, put in to keep the reciever from getting damaged. It comes back on when cool right? Overload could be on its way out and shutting down at a lower temp too

Getting overload display i have 4 ohm speakers hooked up to it

Receiver is designed for 8ohm speakers. you can't use car audio speakers. they are 4ohm. Most receivers will tolerate 6ohms but not 4. This will short the mains and destroy your power amp!

How do you wire up a dual voice coil lanzar 15 for 4 ohm?

    Hello dexterchapma,

The only way to wire a single 4ohm DVC sub to present a 4ohm load is to just connect one voice coil. If you wire the coils in parallel, you get a 2ohm load. If you wire them in series, you get an 8ohm load. But it will work great with just one voice coil. Or if you really want to use both voice coils, and your amp isn't stable at 2ohms, wire the voice coils in series and present an 8ohm load to the amp. It'll work fine, it just won't deliver quite as much power.

    Hope this helps.

CORRECT CONNECTION TO AMP BEING A FOUR TERMINAL SPEAKER

    Hello i_starling,

The Kicker L7's come in either 2ohm or 4ohm dual voice coil (DVC) versions.

Whatever amp they are connected to, you need to know both the impedance of your L7's and the impedance of your amp. The L7's dual voice coils can be wired to provide a total of four different loads:

    2ohm coils in parallel = 1ohm load
    2ohm coils in series = 4ohm load
    4ohm coils in parallel = 2ohm load
    4ohm coils in series = 8ohm load

Your best connection would be the one that results in a final impedance load that is supported by the amp.

    Hope this helps.

I want to know how to wire a speaker

Weather of not you can use this speaker as an extension cab depends on a number of things. First, what amp are you planning you use for it? What is the minimum resistance for this amp (2ohm or 4 ohm probably). Second, what is the primary cab you are using ans what is the resistance on that? (2ohm, 4ohm or 8ohm).

Is there just one speaker in you proposed extension cab? The goal is to have all the speakers wired in parallel without lowering the resistance to a point that will damage the head. So if your amps minimum resistance is 4ohm then your cabs will have to both be 8ohm, running in parallel the overall resistance will be 4ohm.

    Behringer ep2500 amplifier

Yes you can,,,,,BUT the output labelling on the AMP will tell you where you can connect the 4ohms or the 8ohms....please read these labels and connect the 4ohm speakers to the 4ohm terminals, and the 8ohms to the 8ohms terminals...

If you intend to connect the 4ohm and the 8ohm speakers in parallel then the output impedance terminals you use should be the 4ohm ones.

If there is no labelling showing any 4ohm output terminals then its best if you dont use the 4ohm speakers at all....just connect the 8ohm to the 8ohm terminals...you dont mention any crossover networks inside the speaker boxes or if you have tweeter speakers... so just stick to the basics above at present....

    Connecting speakers

I have never heard of this brand of amplifier.. but NEVER hook up unequal ohm loads to a amplifier. the only way i could think to do it would be to hook up 1 of each sub on each side... what way you are spreading out the ohm load equally on both sides but again if you dont do your math and you run too low of a ohm load you WILL smoke that amp..
