It's located at the bottom. You usually lift that bottom grill up and pull it out. Those coils look like a radiator on the car. Be careful and don't bend them. Only use brush attachment with your vacuum cleaner.

Frig will cool but not stay cold

Check the condensing coil under the back side of the refrigerator. If the condensing coil gets dirty, the refrigerant does not condense at the proper temperature and carries unshed heat with it back to the evaporator. This excess heat reduces the ability of the refrigerant to cool because it did not lose the correct amount in the condenser. The condensing coil and it associated fan is located behind the cardboard cover on back side of the refrigerator.
The condensing coil should be cleaned at least yearly. People with pets such as shedding cats and dogs may have to clean it more often.
On your temperature control, a setting of 5 for both freezer and fresh foods section is the normal value.
Another thing to check is the air flow blockage in the freezer for the evaporator and product stored there. If the fan inside of the evaporator can not circulate air then improper cooling will occur. Make sure there is space between shelves and between product so air can circulate.

Hope this helps

Can't fined the proper setting for the freezer dial?

Almost all freezer controls are manufactured to control temperature to the proper temperature control if you rotate CCW , notice the position and then rotate CW, notice the position and then go the the mid position. If temperature is not maintaining the required temperature, you may need a new temperature control thermostat installed. Before you replace the thermostat, check to make sure you have not overloaded the freezer compartment and, If you have an external condensing coil, that it is lint/dust free. Often times people seldom clean the external condensing unit and causes the loss of freezer temperature control. It is important to keep the condensing coil clean because that is where the heat is rejected to the surrounding air. Hope this helps.

Fan in top of the refrigerator is making a high pitched whine when running

The high pitched noise is likely a bearing on the fan motor going out. You should replace the motor soon as it may fail completely.

Meat in freezer is frozen but ice cream and pop-sicles are soft and mushy

Most likely your condensing coils are dirty, or the condensing fan motor is not running. Pop the cover off the bottom of the fridge and look in there and see if coils are dirty. Clean off coils with coil brush, vac or coil cleaner. Also feel around the doors. Is it hot to the touch. If so these are the two causes. If Condensing Fan motor is not running then replace it. Some times the blade can be stuck on something. ( I have found a few with mice ) Clear problem and spin the blade. If it runs then you need not replace motor. You may need to replace blade if it is bent and not turning freely.

My split system gets cold for 1/2 hour then blows hot air, and then it will only blow hot air

1. Check to make sure everything in the condensing unit (outside unit) is running....compressor, fan motor. If you do not have electrical experience, contact a qualified service technician.
2. Check to see if the condensing coil is clean. In many cases this can be cleaned using a garden hose.
3. Check to see if there is any ice or visibly frozen areas. If so, ensure your air filter and your evaporator coil (coil in the air handler) are clean. Ensure your return grille and supply vents are open and not blocked.

Hope this helps. Good Luck! :-)

GE Profile refrigerator temperature problem

refrigerators have 2 coils. the evaporator coil and the condensing coil. one is on the bottom of the fridg and one is on the back or inside behind a false panel. these coils must be kept clean or if the condensing coil cannot reject the heat absorbed by the evaporator, the box temp will stay high and if the evap coil cant absorb heat the box temp stays low running the risk of freezing

Replacing the thermostat should correct the problem. Be sure to install the thermstat exactly as the one you are removing, assuming it hasn't been changed prior. Hope this helps
