Can I install a motion sensor switch on a 3-way switch?

That depends on how you want it to operate. A three way switch will change the circuit (to on or off) by changing either switch. A simple motion detector will turn a light on when it detects motion. In your case, suppose there is no motion, then would you like the manual switch to be able to turn the light on anyway? Suppose, that there is then motion, would you like the motion detector to turn the light off? (probably not). Can you describe how would you like it to operate?

In many cases, yes. When shopping for an occupancy sensing switch, read the label to make sure that it's compatible with 3-way switching, and then follow the installation instructions.

3-way installation shows two motion sensor switches.
Instructions do not show 1 motion sensor and 1 ordinary 3-way switch.

The remaining 3-way switch needs a jumper wire.
See if your instruction manual shows the same thing as image below.
Let's go through this.
The yellow wire connects to a traveler ... and that traveler connects to one of the brass screws on 3-way switch.
The black wire from Motion sensor also connects to a traveler wire ... BUT you have to identify which traveler wire and which brass screw that traveler wire connects to. And then, put a jumper wire (a short piece of wire) from that brass screw to the dark-colored screw.
I think that will do it.
Add a comment if your device is different.

Some of these electronic devices are reversed when two of their wires are connected together.
That's what the jumper wire is doing. So the 3-way switch is just connecting and disconnecting the black and yellow wires, and that action reverses the circuit in the motion device.

I'm trying to install two motion sensor switches in my hallway and do not understand instuctions one light works and the other one doesn't only on and off.

typically the wiring in halways are a 'three-way' method. this means that one switch is provided the power and will switch this power between to wires 'travelers' to the other swtich. the other switch will be a three way switch as well, but instead of receiving power on one leg and switching it between the other two, it takes the other to and you select which one you get power from and the power continues to the light. Almost all of the motion sensing light switches are not 3 way. so you will need to either only put the sensor on one end and wire all the legs together on the other end (this would act as a regular light switch) or find somewhere that has the 3 way motion switch

Unfortunately you cannot use two PR180-1LA's for what you want to do. :-( There is only one correct installation:
One PR180-1LA needs to be installed at the switch box which contains the cable that goes to the light (load). That is a must. One then installs a regular 3-way switch at the switch box which contains the cable with the hot from the breaker (line or source).

If you reverse the sensor location you will need 4 wires between the switches, which is not usual practice, as the bare grounding wire is not permitted to carry current per National Electric Code rules.

If you want a sensor at both locations you need to install a IPP15-1L at the switch box that has the cable going to the light (load). One must then install a IPP0R-1L at the switch box that has the cable with hot from the breaker (line or source).

Sorry, but you need one extra wire between the switches to wire "the opposite configuration" that you want :-(
That means going into the attic and pulling another cable :-( I can walk you through it if you are willing to do all that work.
The only other solution would be to purchase the commercial version of that motion switch, which would also require a sensor at _each_ switch location :-(

Motion Light doesn't work on switch

Try turning the switch on and off and back on again this usually will bypass the motion detector. when you are finished you can turn the switch off for a few seconds and back on and it will resume its normal function

How do i set my simon 3 motion detector?

You have to put the motion in sensor group 17. You will see this list near the back of the thick installation manual that came with your Simon. Also, when installing the motion, when it asks you to trip the button on the sensor, all you have to do is take the back off of the motion. You will hear a beep. Replace the back, and continue!
