1. This printer is not specifically a postript printer. It uses HP PCL printer control language, according to HP it does not support Postcript, see the table on page 15 of this pdf file: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00442162/c00442162.pdf page

2 Screen prints are not directly sent to the printer. They are copied to the Clipboard - you must open up another application which can access graphics - WordPad , Word, Excel. E.G from wordpage paste the screen print (using Control + V or Edit-> Paste) and the contents of the clip board will appear in the document - use the print option from wordpad to print this graph to your HP 1010 printer.

What operating system is your computer running?

  • dan muggeridge Feb 25, 2008

As previously mentioned, your HP 1010 printer is not postcript and you mentioned your scientific software requires this.

If so can you change how your scientific printer prints? - e.g. to a non postcript printer - please contact the software vendor.

I suspect Ctrl+P tells your scientific application to print its current graph etc to the printer and as your system cannot print it does not work. Under Windows print screen never prints the document to the printer - it puts the screen into the clipboard.

I see your quickest solution (which will not require a new printer - or scientific software) to be:

    1. display the graph on screen in your scientific software full screen.

    2. hit print screen key.

    3. open Wordpad under your systems "accessories".

    4. In Wordpad do Edit->Paste on the menu.

    5. in Wordpad do File -> Print - click print.

    6. Ensure printer is online, connected and ready with paper!

As you have mentioned that your have reloaded everything did you include the printer drivers? e.g can you print anything?

If not please try re-installing the drivers for your printer

Hp laser jet 1010 usb cable doesn't conect to pc?

Hi martho68,

You say your HP Laser Jet 1010 USB cable does not connect to your PC? Let's see if you have the right cable. Go to the site below and look at the picture. It is a standard USB cable which fits in the USB slots in PC's.

http://www.mdofpc.com/onlinestore/images/options/usbcableicon.jpg

The flat end is the one which will go into the PC and the other end on the right goes into the back of the printer.

Good luck and let me know if this helps,
