I have just bought an Alba 2GB compact mp3 player and this seems a bit dumb but there is no indication of how to recharge it - how do I do this?

The Alba 2GB player uses AAA batteries (the wee pencil-width batteries often used in small appliances -- hair trimmers, etc.). You should be able to replace this, though I'd recommend investing in some decent rechargeables.

I have been bought a Alba 1.8lcd MP3 palyer and have installed the cd it came with and it comes up in my computer but after ive put music on it and then go to play it it just says empty file ???

1. May be there is a particular music folder in which you have to copy the songs.
2. otherwise there is something wrong with the device and get it replaced.

Music stored on MP3 player won't play now for more than 10 seconds per song. This has only started happening today. What can I do to enable the song to be played? Is there a setting on the Mp3 Player. Alba...

The setting for 10 seconds per song in the Alba MPK4065BUK is under the Repeat Mode, when Music is selected.
The 10 seconds mode is called Intro.
How to change / setup the repeat mode:

My alba 4gb mp3 player is displaying system error and says profiling requires more free space can you help please?

Thanks for using FixYa. You recently formatted your MP3 player and due to that this error is occurring. Please reformat your MP3/MP4 player again. Connect it to the computer, go to my computer-> right click on the mp3/mp4 player-> select format-> Format it as FAT32 File system. This will delete all songs from your player, so before formatting it copy all songs if you don't have a backup.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Alba 1GB MP3 Player

Format the drive. Go to "My Computer" then right click on the drive letter of the Alba Mp3 player and choose format, click start. This will delete ALL files on the player, but you should be able to read/write to the drive after that.

My philips gogear (6 GB) MP3 player is really messed up and i need help

Here's what happened: When you first synced your GoGear to Windows Media Player, you may have set up the automatic sync option. When this option is selected, Windows Media Player will add EVERY song, picture, etc from your Library on your computer to the GoGear. Now, every time you sync you device, it adds every new file from your computer into the GoGear automatically. It will even delete songs from your GoGear that were on there before.

Go into Windows Media Player 11 with your GoGear connected to the computer (it will automatically sync and add new files one last time), move the mouse cursor over to the sync tab; a small black arrow will appear under the word "Sync"; click on the small black arrow and a dropdown menu will appear; select "Portable media device" from the dropdown menu, and another dropdown menu will appear; select "Set Up sync"; a window will appear with some information on your device - uncheck the box that says "Sync this device automatically"; click Finish; This will eliminate the problem of Windows always adding songs/files you don't want into your player.
