Re: Problem with dvd/cd ram does not detected cd
CD Recording software that comes with HP and Compaq computers is made to recognize only the original CD and DVD drives. If a new CD or DVD writable drive was added, use the software that came with the drive or purchase and use new CD writing software. If you are using Windows XP, you can use Windows XP itself to create CDs (not DVDs).
CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows
If the drive is missing in Windows, remove all connected USB, firewire, and parallel devices and perform the following steps to enable the drive in Windows:
Step 1: Checking for CD/DVD drive in BIOS
Make sure the drive appears in Setup. The drive has to be detected in the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) before Windows can see the drive. Check for detection as follows:
Turn on the PC. When the first logo screen appears, press the F1 key repeatedly until the BIOS Setup screen appears (on some models this key press may be different, F2 or Del )
Press the F5 key, and then press the Enter key to reset the BIOS to the defaults.
Use the Left and Right Arrow keys to select Main .
The hardware-identifying name should appear next to Secondary Master, Secondary Slave, or Primary Slave.

go to device manager and check if the sound drivers are installed or not. if they aren't try installing them. if they are then check for confilcts. if there are no conflicts, then the problem might come from the sound pots. try to use a microphone to speak and check if the voice streem signall you that there are entries of sound or not. if there are then the sound out port is damaged and you will need an adon card installed on it.
Techguru2009: When you upgrade your motherboard, basically you have a new computer. You need to know how your hard/cd drives are connected. Either IDE or SATA. IDE is legacy hardware 80 pin and SATA is the new Thing small connecter. Next is your RAM. There is Dimm, DDR1, DDR2. Find out what your old system was using, or just buy new memory cards, DDR2 is not that expensive. Ask for the manual first read and check what is required, take a list of what your old computer has. I can also help you install everything via chat.
