When you run the wizard make sure that you select PPPoE
Most DSL customers use PPPoE connection
It will ask you for a user name and password
Enter the details provided by your ISP
Once configuration is done check if you are able to go online wired frst
Then configure wireless settings(SSID,Security key etc)

Most residential subscriber services use dynamic IP addressing. Dynamic IP addressing is automatic from your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Linksys home based products such as the one you have should be setup up for this configuration out of the box by default, and require no adjustments to the IP configuration of the wireless router.

You should power down the DSL modem and Linksys, then connect them, then reapply power. This will clear the DSL modem if it was connected to another device such as a PC. This is important as most cable and DSL modems use something called MAC address binding that will only allow one device to connect to it directly at a time.

Belkin 54g Wireless DSL/Cable Router (DHF5D72304): Im trying to hook my wii up to the internet and it...

You need to configure your router.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1
If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.

Click on wireless settings change channel type to 3 or 6 or 11 and save so you get better signal.
Then save settings and restart router.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Making my lap top wireless using a speed stream 6520 wireless modem

Go to Start>Run then type 'http://192.168.1.1', a logon screen appears, use 'linksys' as user name and 'admin' as the password and a router configuration control panel appears. Use DHCP for cable broadband, PPPoE for DSL or STATIC for a known IP address. Steve Medley

Hi,

Try the DSL modem directly connected to the PC.No D-Link Router(powered off and disconnected). Verify that the PCcould surf/browse/connect to the Internet. Go to Start, Control Panel,Network Connections, right click Local Area Connection, Properties, scroll down to/highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Properties button.Get the IP Add, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway and DNS assigned to the PC(write this down. This will be your WAN/Internet IP settings). Then Disable DHCP of your modem if it has one. OK, close, save or whatever is applicable.

Disconnect the DSL modem from the PC. Connect D-Link Router to PC (wired/LAN) without the modem connected to the router.Go again to Start, Control Panel, Network Connections, right clickLocal Area Connection, Properties, scroll down to/highlight InternetProtocol(TCP/IP), Properties button. Tick "Use the following IPaddress". Enter this IP Add 192.168.0.10, Subnet Mask255.255.255.0,Default Gateway 192.168.0.1 and the DNS from what youhave written down earlier). This will be your LAN IP settings. OK,close, save or whatever is applicable.

Open a browser and log into the D-Link router (192.168.0.1, using "admin" as a username and no password). Do not run Wireless Network Setup Wizard. In WAN/Internet/Modem setting of router enable/check Static IP Add.Usethe IP numbers previously assigned to PC that you have written down asthe router's WAN/Internet/Modem IP settings. OK, close, save orwhatever is applicable. Reboot router. Connect DSL modem to router.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

What a static ip is, is the ip address that the router automatically assigns to other equipment. (computers, xbox, ect.) Find D-links customer support line for help.
