Take the old filter out (usually by turning it counter clockwise 90 degrees) and find a part number on it. Type in that part number in search engine.

Hey Admin576 I find it odd that someone ask for help locating a water filter and does not even list a model number or brand name. And out of their kindess for your trying to assist them they leave you a not helpful gift.( the big one finger reward for their mistake)_Sea Breeze
You deserve better than that! That is like where is the fuel filter on my green truck?

I have a 1996 ford Taurus 24valve V6 oil is reading full..but oil light keeps coming on and has a slight knocking sound..don't know where to start

First off, when did you last change the oil? Did you change the filter?
Sounds like an oil pressure drop,or a serious engine problem.
If the oil could stand changing,go with a heavier viscosity, like 10W30 or 10W40 if necessary.
ALWAYS change the filter when the oil is changed. don-ohio (:^)

Fuel filter 1996 buick 3800

Sounds more like a worn out fuel pump that binds up

The fuel filter if totally clogged, would drop pressure
& it would be slow to get from 20 to 50 mph,not the
problem I don't think.

You do not change parts to see if that will solve something

You surely know if the filter is over 4 years old

Your Exhaust Conveter if origninal ,problem or not
is totally shot, they only last 12 to 14 years.

You have to check the TPS Sensor & may other things

I hope you don't just go years until your break down,
because the car has been good to you

That makes diagnosing things more time consuming, as you
have no preventative maintenance history
I would have a fuel pressure gauge put on it

Why is my 1995 3.4 liter 6 cylinder Pontiac firebird less fuel efficient than it was 2 months ago and how do i change the fuel pump

I don't know why its not fuel efficient. But the fuel pump is inside the fuel tank. you should not attempt to replace it yourself, and don't change it on a whim. prove that's its bad, its an expensive guess.

Check engine light came on and car has trouble starting then when it starts and i take off it keeps jerking like it doesnt want to change gears

This could be as simple as replacing the fuel filter, when last time had service? Not oil change, slot of times if you don't make sure on oil change , places will only replace oil filter. I would change fuel filter and possibly air filter. Let me know, and bynthe way, fuel filter is cheap, there under 15 bucks most likely at napa, schucks , etc... Dealer a lot more $$ let me know, glad to help more if that does not solve issue, mike

Describe what is needed for a tune up, 165000 miles on it and never has had plugs, etc. replaced!

For the plugs- use A/C Delco 41-103 Our I6 engine loves these, a little more per plug, but will idle better than other brands.
Air Filter
Fuel Filter
Clean your throttle body (you'll notice the biggest difference with a clean throttle body).
Transmission flush and change the filter (Use GM's new Dextron 6, it's used in all 2010 vehicles and newer now, supposedly a big improvement over the Dextron 3)
Differential oil should be changed
If 4x4, and you use it a lot, change the transfer case fluid also.
Check your serpentine belt and replace if needed.
With that many miles on it (yeah I should be talking 180k on mine!) you should check out all your bushings. If you are hearing any sounds or squeaks, let me know, I know what they are.
I wouldn't worry about your timing chain, ours is bullet proof, don't know any TB owners that have needed to change them, even at 200k +.

These are just the basics, if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask me. Good luck!

Engine light on

Knowing what year, make and model would help, but... If there hasn't been a change in how the auto is running, you don't really have to feel it's a four alarm fire to get it to a shop. Don't fuel the auto while it's running, this will cause the light to come on too. Disconnect the ground on your battery and that should reset the computer, this doesn't always work for newer models. Have you serviced the auto; change oil, air filter(s), fuel filter? Not doing those can cause lots of issues too.

Pls i need to know where is transmision oil filter and fuel filter to change them car don,t run more than 30 miles, i,ve changed speed out sensor thanks in advance

The fuel filter is located just below and to the right of the master brake cylinder. You may need to remove the air cleaner assembly to get to it.

The 2001 Elantra does not have a transmission filter. Previous years had a spin-on filter on the top of the transmission.
