Question about Miele S300 Bagged Canister Vacuum
The power head on the vacuum generally does not work. I have tracked it to perhaps a loose wire at the spot where the tube attaches to the main unit. When the tube swivels, it makes the head work intermittently. So, how do I fix this, do I need an entire new tube unit, or can the wires be somehow adjusted.
I just fixed the same problem on my Miele today. There is a switch inside the swivel assembly that turns the power head off when you stand the wand all the way up to the locked position. The circular space on which the switch is located becomes packed with dirt, dust and hair and the switch begins to actuate every time you make a hard swiveling turn. Eventually, if you get enough crud packed in there against the button, the power head won't run at all. You need to take the power head apart and clean it out. Mine runs fine now. The Miele dealer told me they couldn't fix the power head and I would have to buy a new one for $200! Ha!

Most times you have to replace the neck on the powerhead. Sometimes the switch in the handle of the hose will have a bad solder connection. But S300 is not a good model number, also the powerhead has its own number on the bottom, so couldn't look up parts for you.

Tips for a great answer:
Hi If the power head isn't working it may be clogged. Try taking it apart to see if threads and general dirt has got in at the sides. Also without the power head if the Miele still isn't working then its a possibility that the on switch wiring is either loose or check the plug at the end of the power cord.
