Turn off the water to the ice maker and turn the temperature up in the room. Let it sit at room temperature for a few hours to let the heat warm up the line. Is it the line on the back of the unit or down in the basement?

LG refrigerator won't dispense water any more

The water line is freezing in the door due to deteriorated insulation. The only fix I have found to work on my fridge was to defrost the inside door with a blow dryer. Then place a weedeater replacement line (the orange 10" or so size you find at Lowes' or Home Depot) up through the dispenser nozzle, If the line only travels about 3-4 inches up the nozzle, then ice is still in the tube. Blow dry it until you are able to get water to dispense. After the tube is ice-free, place the weedeater line up throuth the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8" sticking out. The dispenser will still work with the line stuck in it. The dispenser will probably freeze again in about 8 hours, But all you need to do each time this happens is to pull the weedeater line out, dispense the water to unclog the ice, and place the weedeater line back in the nozzle. I have been using this method for about a week now and it works great. My GE Side-by-side is also 4 years old and this seems to be a problem with all of them. There is a part you can order to fix the problem, but I have heard it may not work.

Water dispensor stoppedworking

If the light and ice dispenser on the front panel works and If your fridge is 4 years old or older, the insulation in the freezer door has most likely deteriorated and the water in the tube feeding the water dispenser has probably frozen. Open the freezer door, put a blanket over the food to keep it from defrosting, and use a blow dryer to defrost the door. Blow the hot air on the flat panel inside the door (the backside of the water dispenser). Close the door about every 5 minutes to check to see if the water works. Once the water begins to flow, you have successfully defrosted the ice in the tube. Defrosting the door works for about 12 hours until it freezes again. To solve this problem, I placed a 10" weedeater line up thorugh the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8 of an inch sticking out. When the line freezes again, pull out the weedeater line, dispense water to free the ice, and then reinsert the weadeater line. I keep the line in all the time...it works great! If the light or ice dispenser do not work, the problem may be *********** board.

Water dont work on refrigarator

Assuming you have no issues whatsoever with temperatures, I would check your water filter first. Second thing to check, and this will require knees on the floor and a little strength in your hands. remove the toe plate at the bottom front of unit. Under the freezer door, you will see a white opaque water line, with a blue push in, or white screw on, union. if its the white screw on type, simply unscrew one end and seperate, if its the blue push in, grab the union with your left hand, and squeeze the white collars while pulling gently on the water line away from the door, if you squeeze the collar(s) enough, the line will slip right out. You will only get a marginal amount of water when you first seperate this union. Put the water line that DOES NOT come out of the door into a bowl, and actuate the water lever in the door. You will likely get water coming out into the bowl. A common problem with GE refrigerators. due to improper insulation in the door surrounding dispenser, the water line in the door tends to freeze up. the only solution, other than buying a new door, is to unplug unit for about 4 hours, open freezer door, blow fan at door, test dispenser, after you reconnect the water line under toe plate of course. If still no water, defrost for another 4 hours, but that will be unlikely necessary.

Dispenses Ice..but not Water

I have found that when ice hangs up in the door causing the water line to freeze right at the very end of the water line. Remove the ice jam and apply cloth that has been wet with hot water to line for @ 20 sec. with a cup in place engage the water dispenser and please note that the ice plug may dislodge with force due to water pressure in the line.

Water does not dispense from door

I found that the door on the GE side by side doors are not accessable and cannot be repaired if a water line inside the door is defective. The entire door must be replaced at a cost of almost $370. The problem, which seems to be quite common relative to the lack of water at the dispenser, is the result of the water tube in the door freezing due to excess cold levels in the freezing compartment. This is probabley due to poor insulation around the water line as in exits near the ice dispenser gate. The solution is simple, lower the freezing level and use water frequently to keep it from freezing. Also, keep the lines clean by changing the filter often if the local water source is laden with particulates. I think GE should foot the bill for changing doors or re-engineer the doors to access the area where the water line makes contact with the cold surface of the inside panal.

Ge refridgerator model gsl25jfpe bs

I have a gsl25jfpe bs ge regrigerator and the baffle motor that controls air flow from the freezer to the refrigerator is out. This had been causing everthing in the fridge to freeze and cause the water to stop working due to water freezing in the storage tank. The baffle is in the back top of the fridge covered with a plastic cover. Remove plastic cover to check baffle function.

The water line freezes inside the freezer door. There is now an add-on water line heater you can install to thaw the line.
