Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Push the button to turn it on and it buzzes, but the dryer does not start. All of the lint traps are clear- the one in the dryer and going outside. Cycles are chosen and it isn't set on the wrinkle guard cycle. The breaker is on and it has power going to it. It doesn't run hot or anything or at least not that we have noticed. I looked for coins lodged anyplace inside the drum and didn't see anything. I am wondering if it is a belt.

Your correct it could be the belt,or check your breaker panel,a dryer runs on 240 volts,it might only be getting 110 volts

Maytag Bravos XL MCT will not start, light is stuck on "detecting" under airflow. All vents and lint trap are clear.

If the vent output is clear and lint trap is clear, then there are a couple of more hidden spots that air can get backed up.
First off, unplug the dryer before doing any of this. There's a lot of current to that plug, and getting killed is a really bad way to detect a bad wire or to identify where the heater coil inlet is.

  1. Inlet to the heater area. Laundry rooms have lint in them. All the air that gets blown out the back has to come from somewhere. make sure you don't have a clump o dust bunnies on another section of the rear panel.
  2. The blower motor itself. The lint filter can't get everything. The first time I took the back off my old Kenmore and opened up that area after the lint trap, it was like looking at a chalkboard eraser. Solid lint. The fins in the blower were packed tight with more lint. Cleaned it all out, and it ran better than it had in years.
  3. If the wall/floor connector for the vent hose goes anywhere but straight through the wall to outside, look down the hose and clear what you can, then go outside to the outlet and make sure it's not blocked, jammed, frozen shut, or what have you. Clean what you can from that end too.

    Hope this helps!
Good Luck!

Dryer putting out hot air but clothes not drying

You have some blockage between lint trap and where the unit vents outside.

My amana LE9207w2 has been taking longer and longer to dry the clothes. I clean out the vent regularly... when I use it a lot, it shuts down for hours. Now it stopped altogether with wet clothes insid

First the dryer vent should never go out of the roof thats just asking for trouble. The dryer has to work harder to get the air out. any lint that would be in the vent when the dryer shuts off just comes back down instead of being blow outside. there is probably a buildup of lint around the exit pipe on the roof. As far as your problem either you have a bad motor or there is something stuck in your blower wheel. the best way to check this is to reach inside your dryer and try to turn the drum. If your drum spins freely then hold the door switch and push the start button keep holding the door switch the dryer will be buzzing now turn the drum if it starts to go after you push the drum then you have a bad motor. If the drum does not spin freely then you probably have something stuck in your blower wheel

Maytag Performa dryer blows fuse after clothes get hot. I cleaned a large buildup of lint from inside the dryer all the way to my roof. I then replaced the hi limit thermostat, thermal fuse and dryer...

Hello,
their are two possiblities causing that

1) while cleaning the lint from the motor a wire accidently got pulled of of the motor switch

2) to me the buzzing when start button is pushed and may or may not start, the motor is bad

When trying the trick to start the motor by hand the door switch also must be pressed in

So I emptied the lint trap as I always do before putting in more laundry and start the dryer. When the dryer stopped the lint trapped was overflowing into the dryer. I emptied it and restarted the dryer...

This sounds like you have a blockage in the dryer vent tube. This is the plastic or metal exhaust tube the exits the dryer either in the back or the side. If you know where the vent exits the house you can go outside and with the dryer on you should be able to feel warm air exiting the vent. You might also look to see if a animal has made a next in the outside vent. You may also need to remove the exhaust vent from the back of the dryer, Generally it's connected with a few screws or a ty strap. Once the vent is removed you will physically need to look in the vent to see any obstructions. Remove anything you find. Once again start the dryer on no heat mode if you have on or on low heat and feel if you have any air coming from the vent with the hose or tube removed from the back. If no you have a good air flow then you have cleared the vent, no reconnect the vent tube and recheck back outside. You should have air flow through the outside vent, if not you will need to remove the vent obstruction. If you find that you have no air flow and the dryer drum is turning then you have a broken blower wheel.

Dryer has heat but clothes are still wet we dryed a dog pillow that came open and the stuffing went all inside. we took the back off and the shoot for the lint trap but there was no more lint.

If your machine is running properly and you have heat as you say then you may have a clog in the main vent line from the dryer through your house.

Try running the dryer once with the vent hose disconnected. If it dries your know the clog is in the house's vent line. Unusual but it does happen if you have a lot of lint.

Check first at the immediate opening point in the wall there is often a 90 degree elbow where lint can trap.

The other place is the cover plate on the outside of your house. Some at are static and others have vents that open and close. Those too can trap lint and cause a problem.

If you know you have a clog in the house line somewhere but the opening and exit are not clogged then take a drain auger (same as used to clear a clogged toilet) and run it through. If you don't have one try your garden hose.

Good luck.

Please rate if this gives you some direction.

Too much lint is getting past the lint trap. How

if the filter isn't damaged then this is normal, you should take off the bottom panel and use a shop vac to blow out all the lint inside the dryer especially the motorand blow it forward and vac it up so you don't have to pull the drum to clean it,then remove the lint filter and take off the duct that the filter slides into, now go outside and make sure nothing is blocking the flapper like an animal cage that comes with some of the outside vents,if it's clear go inside and remove the vent line,if it's a long run from the dryer to the outside blow it out with a leaf blower, you should do this once a year and your clothes will always dry on time and your motor and other parts will last longer, when the lint builds up the dryer runs hotter and longer and that's what damages the dryer

WILL NOT START WHEN YOU TURN THE START SWITCH, THE MOTOR JUST HUMMS

two possibel reasons for this
1, you have something stuck in the blower moter
look down the lint trap you may just be able to see it
2. your motor is going bad
open the door and hold the door switch with tape or something like it
push the button and try to spin the tumbler while you hear the buzz
if it starts up and the buzz goes away,,,, your motors start wionding is gone and you will need to replace the motor

Kenmore Elite Heavy Duty Dryer 11063012101 Takes Forever to Dry

I think your vent has lint in the line between the wall and the outside of your house not allowing the moisture to get out

FIX

1 when the dryer is running go outside and observe the vent to see if hot air is coming out

2 Turn dryer off, disconnect electric from wall

3 pull dryer out from wall

4 take a nut driver or screw and remove the clamp that attaches the flex vent pipe to the wall

4 Also remove the flex pipe from the dryer

5 Inspect inside vent connection inside dryer for any trapped lint

6 inspect inside flex line for any lint

7 Look inside wall vent for lint you can also reach in with your hand to feel for lint

8 If you have a leaf blower or can borrow one(electric is best) from your neighbor put the snout of the blower into the vent going into the wall seal the area between the snout and the vent pipe at the wall ( i use duct tape you can use wash clothes rags etc

9 start blower and blow any lint in the line out through outside THIS WILL CLEAR THE LINT

10 Reattach the flex to the wall vent and dryer , plug in. run a load and you should be back in business

Good Luck
