Question about Sport & Outdoor - Others

5 Answers

Recently, I was using my Horizon CST 4.5 treadmill when the power on the treadmill and the room it was housed in went out. I reset the cicuit breaker and tried to get back on the treadmill. It turned back on, counted down from 3, and the time began however the running surface(track) would not move. I lifted the front end where the motor and belts are housed. I noticed that the belt was still intact. Unsure if motor is burnt out. Any help would be appreciated.

I had already done that when the problem first happened. The breaker was pressed a few times(should that button give you some resistance?) Whatever the case, all parts on treadmill continued to work but the track.

There is usually a small breaker on treadmills that pops out and you have to push it in to reset it. Take a look around the front of the treadmill and see if you can locate the breaker and reset it and the treadmill should work normally.

The button should go in and stay in not come back out if it keeps popping out then there is something shorted. The motors in the treadmills are usually run off a transformer that converts a/c voltage to d/c because the motor is d/c and the breaker is to protect the transformer from burning out. I would check the transformer to see if it is putting out the voltage to the motor.

Hi,

You would have to carry out an insulation test on the motor windings to see if the motor was burnt out and the cause of the trip using an insulation tester (megga). Does the motor smell? See if you can unplug the connection to the motor and then start the treadmill. If the unit runs ok then it points to the motor, obviously the motor will not spin at this stage as the connection has been removed. Also see if you can remove the drive belt and freely turn the motor by hand. The motor may have seized up.Also see if you can freely spin the rollers which drive the running track as this may have siezed and the motor is unable to drive a jammed running track. this then puts more strain on the motor which draws more current and trips your circuit breaker. Check there is nothing obstructing the running track.

Hope this helps

Most likely, the motor on your unit is stressing to operate, henceforth the kickout of the breaker. To see if the motor is functional back off the belt tensioners and try restarting the unit. If the motor runs freely without any load on it, than it will require replacement. If the motor does not start, look around the rear end of the motor for a reset button. Another way to check the integrity of the motor is to spin the drive pulley by hand (unplugged of course) and listen for any grinding or squeaking. Thanks, Dana

Performing this procedure will require an understanding of AC and DC voltages!!!! If you are not familiar with electrical power testing, please call an experienced Tech.
Test for a motor control failure. Typically if you have a failure, the treadmill will continue to turn on and operate normally until you try to input speed. If the treadmill operates on what we call a closed-loop system, it will give you some type of error message. If it operates on an open-loop system, the computer will run normally but the motor will not turn.
If you have a multimeter, you can test to make sure you have DC output from the controller spades. First make sure you have 120 VAC going in to the controller. On most controls, you can use a linear taper potentiometer or jump the circuits of the control with an insulated wire or insulated pliers and apply AC voltage. The DC output spades should output DC voltage if the control is good.
The motor can be tested by using a simple DC cordless drill or lantern battery. MAKE SURE TO USE A DC POWER SOURCE…DO NOT USE AN AC POWER SOURCE OR YOU CAN RUIN THE MOTOR.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that the motor has gone bad. To confirm this please go near the treadmill and check if you can smell any burning object. If so, then you’ll need to get it rewind/replace if still under warranty. Before getting it rewind/replace please follow these steps---

Remove the key from the console.
Unplug the power cord from the surge protector.
Turn rear roller bolts 1/4 and turn counterclockwise using an Allen wrench.
Keeping the walking belt centered, you should be able to lift each edge of the belt 2 to 3 inches.
Plug the power cord back into the surge protector.
Reinsert the key into the console.
Repeat the process if, after the treadmill has run a few minutes, the walking belt is not properly tightened.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

How come the circuit breaker keeps tripping when i push the start button on my treadmill

Before you give up on the unit check the AC wire (while unplugged) at the way to the control panel and or motor. It could be defective somewhere along the way especially where it passes through a hole or up through metal tubing.

Why did my treadmill stop abruptly while in use?

Your assumption is correct, if you have a household circuit breaker popping, you have a short or over current situation. If you have too many other things plugged into the same circuit you could be overloading that breaker. Depending on how your home is wired, you could have a few (older homes may have quite a few) outlets feed by a single breaker. If you have used the treadmill in that outlet (with the same items plugged into that circuit), the breaker it's self MIGHT be going bad (popping at too low of current).

For safety, inspect the power cord, for any damage, and be replaced if there is any.

If the power core is undamaged, I would try plugging the treadmill in another circuit. Choose an outlet that was not affected when the breaker popped. It you use an extension cord to get to another outlet, be sure it's rated for enough current. If it still pops the same breaker it's the same circuit, and you need to plug it in somewhere else (probably in another room). If a different breaker pops, then the short in in your treadmill. At this point you will need to know something about electricity to further isolate the short.

My horizon t202 treadmill wont start i cant even located the on/off switch where is that? I see the reset button

Normally the button and reset is in FRONT from the machine is you stand from the machine in the lower part, Is RED and at the side is reset button.

2) Test the fuse inside see the block diagram , test and replace.

3) Test the power cord for open, break
4) test the outlet wall, reset the breaker from you house, DO not use any extension cord. and proof again.
5) If you can NOT resolve the problem, you must call to the service tech,.maybe you have problem with some component, inside capacitor, transformer in the power supply.

God bless you

My pro form elliptical is no longer getting power using the ac adapter. Unplugged it to paint the room. Now there is no power. Any help?

1) Measure the outlet plug with another device such a lamp desk 115Vca.
2)If there are voltage with the lamp , the problem is with the fuse+c.breaker in your treadmill.
3)If there are NOT voltage with the lamp, the problem is c.breaker from your house Reset.
4) If after you reset there are NOT voltage again, the problem is the wires had been isolated with the paint, You must take out the paint, for to conduct the electricity to the outlet, and try again with the lamp desk

see the diagram.
God bless you

I was using my Horizon Treadmill T1201, and in the middle of my workout my circuit breaker was tripped and lost power in my room. When I got power back, i turned on my treadmill and it reads a 5101 error...

Dear Sir:
You have a big SHORT CIRCUIT inside from your machine.

1) Test the input voltage and see the c. breaker reset 2) Test the fuse inside with your DVOM. 3) See if some wires is loose and tight 4) See if there are some component burn 5) Test the input voltage motor, if there are the motor is faulty 6) Test the output voltage for input voltage motor is there are NOT the board is FAULTY.

Of course you must sHURE the outlet from wall is o.k test the ground wires, and see any loose wires, or touching between them. DO NOT USE ANY EXTENSION CORD for your treadmill.

sincerely. God bless you

A2550 no power at all

Dear Sir:
1)Most probably you did short circuit.
2) Test the fuse or breaker inside.
3) Check if you breaker from your house or building is tripped, since there are No power Must be 90% that your breaker in your building is tripped.Re-started again.
4) Test again the treadmill, and will be working

Of course when you open for to see the fuse or breaker, see if there are something with smell to burn. If there are burn, you must to Test it.

Finally you must not used extension cords. Use directly to outlet with connection to ground +device for power transient+100% stabilizer of voltage.
sincerely.

Hi I own the Horizon T605 Treadmill - The treadmill was working fine until we had a power surge and the treadmill stopped working after. My husband believes that it is a fuse. Do you think it could be...

The unit has a circuit breaker near the on/off switch on the front of the machine. The power surge may have tripped this circuit breaker and it needs to be reset.

If this doesn't solve the problem, Horizon's customer service number is 1.888.993.3199.

Hope this helps.
