Try downloading and installing the video drivers for the laptop.

Go here to get the drivers:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=2684&l=en&s=pub&ServiceTag=&SystemID=WRK_NBK_PNT_P4_M60&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Choose the operating system that you are running, and then go to video section, you'll probably see two nvidia drivers for it, download both of them to the desktop. Try one of them first and see if it installs the video for you. If it doesn't then install the other one and that should do it. The system might ask you to reboot, if so then reboot the laptop and then you should be able to change the screen resolution.

My laptop screen resolution is already set to 1200 *600 and windows 8 does not support in that screen resolution they want to 1200 *768 what can i do

  1. Open Screen Resolution by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Display in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Display.

  2. Tap or click Adjust resolution.

  3. Tap or click the Resolution list and find the resolution marked (Recommended). This is your monitor's native resolution-usually the highest resolution your monitor can support.

Screen Resolution in Control Panel shows the recommended resolution for your monitor.

Monitors can support resolutions that are lower than their native resolutions, but text won't look as sharp and the display might be small, centered on the screen, edged with black, or stretched.

Monitor screen is almost completely black - i can only see the desktop very slightly. is there a light bulb that can be replaced to fix this?

Change the display resolution in Windows To change the display resolution to the highest resolution, use the following actions.
  • In Windows 7 , click Start , click Control Panel , find the Appearance and Personalization area , and click Adjust Screen Resolution . Move the slider bar until the highest resolution for the monitor is set, and click OK .
  • In Windows Vista , click Start , click Control Panel , find the Appearance and Personalization area , and click Adjust Screen Resolution . Move the slider bar until the highest resolution for the monitor is set, and click OK .
  • In Windows XP , click Start , click Settings , and then click Control Panel . Double-click the Display icon, and select the Settings tab. Move the slider bar until the highest resolution is set, and click OK .
If the screen is still blurry, please contact an HP support technician for further assistance.

I want to run a software which requires a screen resolution of 1280 x 768 but my Samsung SyncMaster 740nw supports up to 1280 x 700 screen resolution. Is there anything that I can do? Please guide.

Have you tried adjusting the screen resolution in Control Panel - Display - Settings and moving the slider on Screen resolution?
Normally a monitor such as Samsung LCD would be able to display a higher resolution.
If you cannot adjust the Screen resolution in Display - Settings then it may be that the correct video driver was not installed or is corrupted.
To check if the video diver is OK, go to Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device manager and click on Display adapter. Check that your display adapter is OK and working. If you see a yellow ? against the video adapter or a standard VGA adapter was installed then you need to re-install the video driver for your model graphics card.

When i turn it on it says out of range and i have a black screen

Hi, The reason behind the out of range (frequency of monitor) because the video display adapter is trying to set resolution more than what the monitor (screen) is capable of. In this case, try to boot your computer in Safe Mode using F8 function key while starting your computer. Once you are in safe mode, try to decrease the resolution of monitor to the lowest resolution level and apply the settings. Now try to boot computer in normal mode once again, you will get the settings which you have applied in safe mode. Adjust the screen resolution accordingly till the settings work with the monitor (screen).
Cheers!

  • In Windows XP , click Start , click Settings , and then click Control Panel . Double-click the Display icon, and select the Settings tab. Move the slider bar until the highest resolution is set, and click OK .
If the screen is still blurry, the notebook display might need servicing.

How do I adjust my monitor? My home page does not

I'm not sure what operating system you're using nor what you mean by your "home page". If you mean your browser window doesn't fill the whole Windows desktop, what happens when you maximize the window?

If your desktop looks huge with tiny icons (and tiny-looking windows, if you have any open and not maximized) all clustered in the middle of the screen, your display resolution may be set higher than you're accustomed to. In most versions of Windows you can go to Control Panel | Display, see what your current resolution is, and try adjusting it. The higher the numbers, the "bigger" the desktop area (and the smaller the icons and everything else). If you adjust the resolution higher than your monitor can handle, you may lose your display and have to restart the computer in something like Safe mode to get to Control Panel and readjust it. If you adjust the resolution lower (or run in Safe Mode) your icons may not fit on the smaller desktop and may get scrambled. In that case, first straighten out the display resolution, then move your icons back where you want them.

Nec monitor LCD1560V

Try changing the resolution of the screen. Right click on an empty area of the desktop and select properties. Now choose the Settings tab and try adjusting the slider for resolution and click on APPLY. The screen will go blank for a few seconds and will show up in the new resolution. If you find it satisfactory, click OK to keep it, or click NO to go back and try a different resolution.

You can also go into Control Panel and check the monitor properties from there.

Hope that helps!

Annoying Nuisance on the monitor

Run your system in 'Safe Mode'. Go to Display settings and set lowest possible resolution. Then restart computer and run windows again in normal mode. Should have normal screen. If this will not work - then under safe mode uninstall graphic card. Then run windows with standard ones and in LOWEST possible resolution install drivers again. I have had it many times and it made swear first time.
