Utorrent not seeding or leching

Utorrent works on the premise that there are many people wanting the file that is being downloaded and many people have the file or parts of it available to be downloaded.
When one person is holding the whole file then they can seed this file so others can download it. As long as they have the file complete and available others can download it normally in blocks such as 4 kb blocks. As they download the blocks then they are available to others to download from them so if you have downloaded 50% of a file then that 50% of the file is available to any others that want to download it.
To this end someone can download part of the file from you and part of the file from another person thus speeding up the download process.
when two people are downloading different parts from the seeder they can also download the parts the other person has downloaded. So each person is helping to speed up the process of getting the file.

Once each person has a complete file then they can seed that file in its' complete form allowing many people to download the file quickly.

Where the torrent system falls over is when the initial person with the complete file stops seeding the file before each person downloading the file has the complete file. If there is any part of the file not contained on at least one downloaders computer then the file will continue to wait till that piece is available before completing the download thus leaving all downloaders without a complete file.

If a file has become dormant where no people are carrying any part of the file then the torrent program sits waiting for any part to become available to start downloading.

How to delete final1.GHO from home computer?

A program's probably maintaining that 2GB file (not a horrifically large file in today's world, mind) in order to do something for you. Are you perhaps running Norton Ghost?
The trick is to find out what program owns the file handle. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/232830 (which tells you to run their utility http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/ProcessExplorer.zip and look through the file handles for your culprit...then decide whether whether the program maintaining it is any use.)
When can anyone beg off aptitudes? The jail arc in Blood Diamond?

How to repair corrupted directory on a computer

This was found on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/176646

WARNING: When Chkdsk detects problems with the file system and attempts to repair the damage, data loss can occur. Microsoft does not recommend running Chkdsk with the /f command-line switch unless you have a full backup of your hard disk.

Attempt to repair the damaged file, folder or file system index using Chkdsk. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type chkdsk /f <drive>:, where <drive> is the letter of the drive on which the damaged file, folder or file system index exists.
  3. Click OK.
NOTE: If the hard disk is large, Chkdsk may take several minutes to several hours to complete.

I have windows xp on my computer and I can't uninstall adobe 9.1.1, how can I get it off my computer?

Due to recent enhancements to the Adobe Flash Player installers, you can now remove the player only by using the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller. To remove Flash Player, simply download and run the appropriate uninstaller for your system using the steps below.
  1. Download the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller:
  2. Save the file to your system, choosing a location where you can find it (for example, your desktop). Macintosh users may need to open or unstuff the .hqx file.
  3. Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, or other Messengers. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications are still in memory which might possibly use Flash Player.
  4. Run the uninstaller. This will remove Adobe Flash Player from all browsers on the system.
Note: The uninstaller cannot remove files currently in use.
If you have any instances of the player open in your web browsers, instant messaging clients, stand-alone SWFs, or projectors, then the uninstaller will complete but some files may not be deleted. If this occurs, then close all of your applications and run the uninstaller again to ensure that all files are removed.
Note: Internet Explorer users may have to reboot to clear all uninstalled Flash Player ActiveX control files. If you're not certain, select the "Show Details" button in the Flash Player uninstaller. If there are any log lines that begin with "Delete on Reboot..." then you'll need to reboot BEFORE running the Flash Player installer again.

When I try and load programs like burning software or a new sound driver, I get the message "....exe is not a valid Win32 application." What can I do?

This error could be anything from cd/DVD needs clean, program corrupt, to viruses. If you can clean your player and re-install software and drivers your left with problems with the laser pick up in the cd/DVD, still program corrupt or viruses.

The likely problem is that the download did not complete properly. Please check the file size of the downloaded file against what is listed in the download. This often also results in a "Bad CRC" error. Both these errors can be fixed by making sure you have a complete download. Some users have found that being connected to their companies VPN can cause downloads to be slow and timeout, resulting in an incomplete download.

If you have received 0 kb files have found that disabling Norton Internet Security or other firewall on their computer has solved the problem.

Below, is a site that may help you.

Problem installing lifecam 2.04

just had the same problem read in another forum that you have to uninstall the net framework 2.0. (see below) which I found to complicated ...I just plugged the camera in - and at least with Skype it works ....

I found this link helpful:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100/en-us
Try and use method one to uninstall your .net framework software. Method one
did not work for me, I kept getting issues with removing both 2.0 and 3.0.
I then used method 2 which entails following another link and downloading a
.net framework cleanup tool. I ran the program to cleanup ALL .Net versions.
Then I went back to Microsoft Downloads and downloaded .net framework 1.1,
2.0 and 3.5 (not 3.0 - for some reason 3.0 would not download and created
issues).
Once these .Net Framework downloads were installed I downloaded and
installed LifeCam 2.04 software and my kid was up and running in 10 minutes.
It took me over a week to get this issue resolved.
One more thing, when you are downloading and installing your .net framework
files you need to make sure you download in the proper sequence. Also, for
some reason I encountered printer issues the first time through this. The
second time I just unplugged my printer untill all downloads were installed
and I did a computer restart and the printer issue went away.

Cannot download executable files.

Ok, the first thing to check is whether or not the system is infected.
Goto http://onecare.live.com/site/en-gb/default.htm and choose the Beta edition for Vista.

Follow the on-screen instructions and let this run (it will take a while, so you may want to put a film on). Keep an eye on it, as it may ask you for some actions. If nothing bad is found or after cleaning this still happens then please follow these next steps.

Did you install Service Pack 1 via Windows Update?

This has caused problems with alot of programs and systems, as it doesn't always install all the bits that your system needs. You need to uninstall the Service Pack. Please use this link to find out how:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948537/en-us

Now the thing is, you really need the Service Pack. Once you have uninstalled it and restarted the computer, you need to ignore any Windows Update/Automatic Update messages that may pop up for the moment.

You need to download and install the complete Service Pack 1. Just click on this link and press download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b0c7136d-5ebb-413b-89c9-cb3d06d12674&DisplayLang=en

As this is the complete Five Language pack, 434MB, it may take awhile depending on your internet speed. I would recommend this anyway, as it would sort out any other bugs/problems that you may not have noticed.

Anyway, have fun, and let me know how you get on.
