Power up problem

As soon as i fit the battery the phone switches itself on.
When I switch it off in the normal way, it powers down but the illuminated icons in the front face remain on.

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle prior to using this diagnostic procedure.

Circuit/System Description

The power window system will operate any time the ignition is the ACC or RUN position. The power window system will also operate whenever the body control module (BCM) is in retained accessory power (RAP) mode. The driver power window switch contains individual window switches for each of power windows. All windows may be controlled up and down from the driver power window switch. The individual passenger power window switches will only control the up and down operation of their respective power window.
Each power window contains a reversible power window motor. The direction the window travels is dependent upon the polarity of the supply voltage. By reversing polarity of the supply voltage the window motor will move up or down. Each power window motor is internally circuit breaker protected.
Battery voltage is supplied to the power window switch through the accessory voltage supply circuit. The power window switch also receives a constant ground source. The power window motor control circuits are connected to ground through the normally closed up and down contacts of the power window switch. When the power switch is placed in the down position, the power window motor down control circuit is switched to 12 volts and is applied to the down side of the power window motor. Since the other side of the power motor is connected to ground through the normally closed contacts of the up switch, the window travels down. By placing the power window switch in the up position, the polarity of the power window motor is reversed and the window travels up.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, command the appropriate door window UP and DOWN by pressing the appropriate Window switch. Observe the operation of the appropriate door window.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the B+ harness connector at the Driver Window Switch.
  2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal D and ground.
  3. ?X If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal E and ground.
  5. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for an open/high resistance. If the PWR WNDW fuse is open, test the circuit terminal C for a short to ground.
  6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the Driver Window Switch.
  7. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the Driver Window Switch.
  8. Ignition OFF, disconnect the Passenger Window Switch.
  9. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal and ground.
  10. ?X If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for an open/high resistance.
  11. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1.0 ohm of resistance between the control circuit terminal H and ground.

  2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals A and B and the B+ circuit terminal E with the passenger window switch in the INACTIVE position.
  3. ?X If less than infinite resistance, replace the Driver Window switch.
  4. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal A and the B+ circuit terminal E with the passenger window switch in the UP position.
  5. ?X If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Driver Window switch.
  6. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal B and the B+ circuit terminal E with the passenger window switch in the DOWN position.
  7. ?X If greater than 2 ohms, replace the Driver Window switch.
  8. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals F and H and the B+ circuit terminal E with the driver window switch in the INACTIVE position.
  9. ?X If less than infinite resistance, replace the Driver Window switch.

    3. Reverse the jumper wires; the appropriate Window Motor should perform the DOWN or UP function.

Brake lights wont go off


If the stoplamps are on continuously, the following may be at fault:
  1. Circuitry.
  2. Brake pedal position (BPP) switch.
  3. Multifunction switch (Crown Victoria equipped with the police street appearance package or Grand Marquis)
CHECK THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION (BPP) SWITCH
Disconnect: BPP Switch. Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? If yes, continue to the next step. If no install a new BPP Switch.

CHECK CIRCUIT 511 (LG) FOR SHORT TO POWER
Disconnect: Central Junction Box (CJB) Fuse 14 (20A). Do the stoplamps continue to illuminate? If yes, and your Crown Victoria is equipped with the police street appearance package or Grand Marquis, continue to the next step. If Crown Victoria, REPAIR circuit 569 (DG). TEST the system for normal operation. If no, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

CHECK CIRCUIT 9 (LG/OG) FOR SHORT TO POWER
Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c. Does the LH stoplamp continue to illuminate? If yes, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. If no, go to next step.

CHECK CIRCUIT 5 (OG/LB) FOR SHORT TO POWER
Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202c. Does the RH stoplamp continue to illuminate? If yes, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. If the high mounted stoplamp continues to illuminate, REPAIR circuit 569 (DG). TEST the system for normal operation. If the high mounted stoplamp does not continue to illuminate, INSTALL a new multifunction switch. TEST the system for normal operation.

RE: Lawn mower blades will not engage


This sounds like a faulty ground condition, the PTO clutch requires a ground provided by the chassis wiring harness to function and a ground for the ignition switch to kill fire to the coils. The other components work as they should because the voltage regulator, fuel shutoff solenoid and starting interlock system have their own grounds. The ignition switch in these mowers is a large round plastic switch not capable of grounding itself, it should have a black wire leading from the terminal marked "G" on the backside of the switch.

to diagnose a faulty ground you'll need a basic 12V test lamp:

Unplug the switch and and install a the test light clip on the positive terminal of the battery, probe the ground wire in the unplugged harness that corresponds with the "G" terminal only. If the ground is good the lamp in the test light will illuminate brightly, if poor or faulty the lamp will not light or be noticeably dim.

Further verification of a faulty ground or failed PTO switch can be tested at the PTO Clutch harness, turn the key on, engine NOT running, and pull the PTO Switch to the engage position, with the test light clipped onto the Negative Battery terminal or chassis, back probe the connected PTO clutch terminals. If the PTO switch is good and the ground is good then Only one terminal will illuminate the lamp, if both wires illuminate the lamp then the ground is faulty, if no lamp illumination then a loss of power is suspected, check the terminals on the PTO switch and Ignition switch for power.

Typical Ground termination locations are on the frame near the rear of the tractor frame, above the transmission, in the steering column area and near the solenoid, check for a loose or corroded eyelet terminal, broken wire, or a missing fastener in these areas.

Compact fluorescent flickers when the switch is off.


You could be getting power from the source in the switch ... does this flickering occur with a non illuminated switch? Have you tried the CFL in other sockets? Have you checked the socket in question for proper polarity? (Hot wire should be broken by the switch and that hot wire should be connected the bottom of the CFL in the socket). Does your switch have a white wire for the neutral connection or are you using the ground wire to illuminate the switch ... or is there a different lind of light in the switch and/or do you know?

Normally ... let me say again ... normally, (in a traditional sense) an illuminated switch should have a neutral connection, a ground lug and the expected 'in' and 'out' for the switch leg. Normally, I would expect the switch leg to use a black from the power source (normally found in the box where the socket is mounted) and a white from the 'off' side of the switch to the socket.

I tried to draw you a diagram ... but it didnt work out and you probably already get the picture.

If everything checks out ... and it still flickers, replace the switch with a non-illuminated switch or use a incadescent light until they are no longer available.

Dyson dc07 suddenly lost all power. Bad power


This could be the switch, but could also be the motor.
The motor has a built in over-current protection device which normally automatically resets itself, but if the motor has had it, it then just cuts out again as soon as you switch it on.
Both the switch and motor are available quite cheaply on eBay, but fitting new ones requires good DIY skills (especially the motor), and some unusual tools (Torx drivers).
Have a look at www.dysonmedic.com which has some great info on repairing your machine, but if you dont feel you can repair it yourself, time to call a vacuum repairer or the Dyson helpline.

My RM 2652 when dry camping it uses the 2 batteries overnight ?


OPERATING MODES
AUTO MODE
Press the AUTO/MANUAL mode selector button (2) to the DOWN position. The AUTO mode indicator lamp
(A) will illuminate.
When operating in the AUTO mode, the AUTO mode indicator lamp (A) will illuminate. The control system
will automatically select between AC and GAS operation with AC having priority over GAS. If the control
system is operating on AC energy and it then becomes unavailable, the system will automatically switch to
GAS. As soon as AC becomes available again the control will switch back to AC operation.
If 120 volts AC is not available, the control system will automatically switch to GAS operation. Within 45
seconds the burner should be ignited and operating normally. If unsuccessful, the CHECK indicator lamp (B)
will illuminate.
To restart an ignition attempt with the CHECK lamp illuminated or to clear (turn off) the CHECK lamp, press
the main power ON/OFF button to the OFF and then to the ON position. The control system will attempt a
new 45 second ignition sequence.
On the initial refrigerator start-up on gas (120 volts AC is not available), it may take longer than 45 seconds
to allow air to be purged from the gas line. If the refrigerator has not been used for a long time or the LP tanks
have just been refilled, air may be trapped in the supply lines. To purge the air from the lines may require
resetting the main power ON/OFF button (1) three of four times. If repeated attempts fail to start the LP gas
operation, check to make sure that the LP gas supply tanks are not empty and all manual shutoff valves in
the lines are open.
NOTE: DO NOT continue to reset GAS operation if the CHECK indicator lamp continues to be illuminated
after 3 or 4 tries.

I sent my battery back and it was replaced by the supplier. The unit is fine now so the only conclusion I can come to is that it is due to a faulty battery....

Flashing on and off


well that and unlocking the phone voids your warranty. First try taking your battery out and then holding down the # and * keys while you put the battery back in. If it didn't automatically load to a black screen displaying your software version, power it on while holding down those keys. once you've reached this screen let go of the keys and power it on normally. If that doesn't work reply to this post and I will troubleshoot further.
