Question about ASUS A7N8X Motherboard

1 Answer

When starting up, once the ASUS Logo Screen appears the small ''built in case speaker'' emits a ''buzzing noise'' all way through BIOS screens until Windows XP Logo appears where noise stops. Computer then boots into Windows and operates normally after that. The BIOS is also noticeably ''Slow'' while Speaker Buzzing. Otherwise Computer is very fast.

Thanks ron. Interestingly, I only replaced the Bios Chip with a brand new chip flashed with the most recent Bios update (1008) from a guy thru Ebay. My original chip died with new Chip ok when fitted. Seem to be ok for a month before buzzing started. Noise is from Internal Case Speaker, not external speakers so doubt an Audio Driver will fix as Buzzing occurs "Before" System boots to Operating system (Windows XP). Once Boots to Windows noise stops. Hope further info helps.

HOW to tget to bios acer aspire AST180-ED400A

Immediately after pressing the power up button, start repeatedly pressing F2 while the Acer logo is displaying. The Bios setup screen should appear. If you press F2 too soon, the keyboard may not have initialized yet. If you press it too late, Windows will proceed to launch. Press it once, wait a second, press, it again, wait another second, and repeat this while the Acer logo is displaying until you see the bios setup screen.

This is standard approach with most Acers. That said, some laptops may defer to either Ff being the key to press or CTRL+ALT+EXC. Such would be entered as the above mentioned F2. Your Aspire appears to be a desktop and I suspect F2 will suffice.

Unable to enter Asus 6850 BIOS

I would start by resetting your bios settings to default; turn off your system, remove the side cover and gently pry out the board battery (round "button battery" such as cr2032). Leave it out for about one minute, and reinstall. Then see if you get a post screen.

Try restoring your system bios to factory default and this may fix your problem. If not- post again with results and we'll go from there.

Entering System Setup

Turn on your computer.

When the blue DELL logo is displayed watch for the F2 prompt to appear (black screen / white text).

Once this F2 prompt appears, immdiately press F2 .

The F2 prompt indicates that the keyboard has initialized and is detected. This prompt can appear very quickly. Watch for it to display as the screen powers up, and then press F2. If you press F2 before you are prompted, this keystroke will be lost. There is a small window of time to do this before Windows starts.
If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop. Then, shut down your computer and try again to enter setup. At setup check your bios version. It may need to be flashed (upgraded). Select load factory defaults to see if that will resolve your PCI issues.

Press Del right after starting the computer to enter BIOS. A few ASUS motherboards use Ins instead.
OR Press F2 right after the computer starts up.
And try reconnecting your keyboard!!

It sounds like the Acer logo has been turned off in the bios settings. As soon as you hit the power button, start tapping the F2 key until you see the test appear "entering setup". Once you are in the BIOS, look for the Logo settings as far as being visible during Boot up. I've seen this setting on other systems so I am thinking the Acer should be similiar.
