Make sure the catridge is not refilled.and you using genuine catridge also you an try all this possiblities to fix the problem
Check to see if the installed cartridge is the correct one for the printer. If the cartridge is the proper part number, remove the ink cartridge and make sure all the packaging tape has been removed from the copper circuitry strip on the backside of the cartridge. Reinsert the cartridge and try printing again.
If the error continues, remove the cartridge again and clean the copper circuitry strip on the backside of the cartridge, and the contacts inside the printer, by following the instructions below:
1. Use a clean, dry, soft, lint-free cloth. Locate the copper-colored circuitry strip on the back of the cartridge.
2. Wipe the copper-colored strip with the dry cloth. Use an upward motion, from the nozzle end to the top of the cartridge. Do not wipe the nozzle end of the cartridge or touch the nozzle plate. Wipe the contacts only once.
3. To clean the printer contacts, carefully look for fibers or contamination on the electrical contacts inside the carriage assembly, but do not wipe the printer contacts with any object. The contacts in the printer can be damaged if too much pressure is applied during a wiping process. Try to remove any visible attached debris within the carriage assembly by gently pulling the debris off with your fingers. If the carriage contacts show noticeable damage, .
Reinsert the cartridge and try printing again. If the error continues, the cartridge may need to be replaced.
Have a nice day and do not forget to rate please...!

Lexmark p4350 not recognising colour cartridge

Have you purchased like for like. Some, there is a chip that has to be reset if cartidge is a refil?

If still available reinsert old used cartidge and see if you receive same message or just the empty/renew.

Happens with HP too.

Refilled 926 black cartridge but pc does not recognize as full

The electronics on print cartidges are only good for a limited number of refills if any, they then will sometimes not be recognised or report the incorrect amounts, or not properly align....and this goes for aftermarket discount cartidges as well.

Compatibility of Ink cartidge.

The MP600 does not use the 40 or 41 cartridges, it uses individual color (and black) ink tanks. But other models (MP190, MP460, MP470, etc) do use these cartridges. The error message you are receiving indicates that the printer does not recognize the cartridge you installed as a valid black ink cartridge. This can mean that either the cartridge is faulty, or that the printer has a problem.
I would suggest trying another new cartridge, and if you still get the same error, to contact Canon for support options if the unit is still in warranty.
