My Canon Pro9000 MarkII prints photos with a red tint

You probably haven't calibrated your monitor to show the correct colours, so in whatever photo programme you're using, you're setting the red tones too high. Test this by first not calibrating your monitor, but turning down all the red tone until it looks washed out. Print this and see if it's better. If so, set your monitor to a cooler colour temperature. If the result is no better, check your print dialogue settings to make sure you are using an appropriate colour profile. And, for example, if you're using Photoshop, tick 'let Photoshop manage colours' in the advanced profile settings box. Hope this helps. I doubt there's anything wrong with the printer.

Canon pixma ip3600 blue colour cast

I don't get true B&W but only 1/2 a Gnats knacker off it, if you send for a test print from say Ilford you'll notice that it's not B&W but a warm tone very slightly sepia.
I use cheapo inks bought on eBay so none of the settings in software are of any use. I disable any attempt by the software to influence the printer and do the same in the printer settings window. I then alter the colours using the sliders in the Manual section of the colour/intensity to the colour that I see on my screen and save the setting in the profiles section.
I use the iP3600 and have found it very good indeed, after lots of experiments I've settled on a sepia tone reminiscent of Sodium Sulphide but without the nasty smell.

I have a canon pixma 780. I hardly ever use colour yet the colour cartridges keep running out.

Every time you turn on your printer, it goes through a print head cleaning routine and the print head nozzles flush all the inks into the cleaning pads. This is why the inks are levels are dropping even though you have not printed anything.

Printer won't print black ink

The black is always the first to wear out on the printhead. If you are using a refilled cartridge check the side of the cartridge, if you can see ripples near the hole at the bottom then the blotter material has been pushed up inside and can't contact the filter in the printhead. If all is good you will need a new printhead, QY6-0049-000

Prints all yellow, with some blue and black, no brown

the problem is very simple the magenta ink the cartridge is over or the head is been blocked from where the magenta ink comes out,
because red colour requires ---yellow plus magenta(pink)----to make it red.and ----dark yellow plus magenta(pink) -------- for brown colour.

Some colours not printing

I bet you are using non genuine ink, the MP780 will not put up with that ink, you will need a new printhead and maybe a purge unit. Take the machine to your ink supplier and get him to fix it as he supplied the ink
