Question about Roper RAX7244KQ Top Load Washer

1 Answer

I had recently moved the washer around a bit during a remodel. I had to hook it up in the garage to a hose so I could do laundry. All that happened was that water seemed to run straight through it. In from the hose and out through the drain. The timer knob stayed where I had set it but didn't start. It acted like it never filled. ?????????????????????

Some washers need the hose to have an elevation. If te hose is lower than the water pump the water will free flow through the washer . The job of the pump is to carry the water up and out of the hose. The hose is the stopper for the tub.

I need a detailed diagram for my Amana Washer model #ALW540RAW

The pressure switch sends the signal that tub is full and agitation should begin. As a rule though pressure switches are long lasting parts. Usually the problem is in the tube that goes from the switch to a bulb or box on the side of the outer drum. The hose can become disconnected, for example if machine was recently moved, or even a severely unbalanced load. Sometimes a tiny piece of lint can obstruct the hose from the bulb end.

I have a Kenmore 500 top-loading washing machine that we just bought 1 year ago. We just had some remodeling done in our kitchen/laundry room and all appliances were removed. After re-installing the...

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

The easiest thing to check (and likely the problem) is the Lid Switch.

Newer model Whirlpool / Kenmore washers use a Lid Switch as a safety device. Unless the switch senses that the lid on the washer is closed, the washer will neither agitate nor spin.

Older models only used the switch during the spin cycle.

Try to bypass the Lid Switch by removing the Console and jumping the two outermost pins on the switch.

This is a Whirlpool PDF on how these washers operate. It has a diagram on jumping the switch as well as a detailed section on how the transmission works.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

It also has a troubleshooting guide.

To bypass the switch, you only have to disconnect the power to the washer, tilt the console back, unplug the switch and using an short piece of insulated wire, jump the two outermost contacts on the connector coming from the console and plug the washer back in.

Following is a description of how to gain access to the console and how to remove the cabinet if necessary.

With the jumper in place, try to re-start the washer.

If it works, the Lid Switch is a relatively inexpensive part and only requires you to access the console and remove the cabinet.

The washer is 2.5 years old. The Basket has no stability during the spin and wash cycle. The basket bangs against the side of the machine and the machine bounces around the laundry room moving sometimes...

they do dance well dont they? this is caused by the support springs coming off the drum holder and the drum will have droped a little as well,
take off the top of the washer and look down each side you should see the support springs if the off just hook them back on or fit new one's?
dont leave this as it will pull all the pipes off inside the washer
its an easy fix,

I am trying to hook my washer up to a laundry room valve, but it keeps leaking and giving a "NF" code... Is the valve faulty or does my washer need a new hose to hook up to a brand new home's valve?

try changing the washers in the hoses / don't use red outside hose washers/ but hi pressure for fill hoses . home depot should have them . and ck the valve screens at the washer side . clean screens good washers . ( water flow's and washer should work .. mm
