If everything is installed correctly, thing that you might want to check first are:

* Location of the desktop or laptop . It's possible that it might not be getting a strong signal from the router.

* If the wireless adapter has an antenna, make sure that it's in a spot where it will be able to get a good to excellent signal strength. Make sure there is nothing that can block the signal from the router like, walls, tables, and other furniture that can block the signal.

* Do you have other computers that can pick up a the signal of your 2wire router? If you have a laptop that can connect to the same router, bring it in the spot where the none working computer is, see if the laptop will have the same issue.

These are things that you can start checking before going to more technical stuff.

Do you know if this modem has wireless capability? If this is just a regular modem, it will only allow one computer to get online through Ethernet connection, and most likely does not support wireless. Could yo provide me with the model no. of your 2wire modem so we could check if is support wireless connectivity?

Alright, if there are other device that can connect to the 2wire modem via wireless I can say that we have already isolated the issue.

Did you check if the desktop can pick up the signal of the wire modem? Since you have PSP, use it to test if it's signal . You can bring your PSP in the same room where the desktop is located. Then use the PSP to view the available wireless networks, by doing this we will know if the signal if getting in that room.

If you're PSP will pick up the signal of the 2wire modem, the computer should also pick it up. Then you connect to it and put in the network key, if I am not mistaken there is default network key for a 2wire modem found at the bottom of the device, it says WEP key.

I lost the driver

This is always fun and a bit annoying.

You should be able to hook up to the internet using a wired connection and just download if that was setup. If it wasn't then you will need to get a friend to download the drivers and save them to a disk for you. for the main pages then click on support. Find your model of card and download the software drivers.

If you have used the card before it may still have the drivers. Insert the card and make sure one that it is detected and two that it doesn't find the drivers.

The 2wire is setup with a default network key. Change the network key on the 2wire to another key or type in what you think the default network key is on the 2wire.

2 Wire 802.11g wont stay connected

Hi, had the same prob. I was able to fix it. The file set you downloaded for the driver (TWWGPC_TEMP) has a file in it called Wireless Cfg, run that if you haven't already, that will configure the card. Then open the folder CMG and run the Setup file. This will install the Wireless Client Card Utility. In the utility add the network(s) you connect with to My networks. After I did that the intermittency of the connection went away. I hope it works for you too.

I need help installing my 2wire wireless adapter card.

I used this one:

This document describes the procedure to install driver for the 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter under Microsoft Windows, and to run a wireless configuration program to configure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to work with a 2Wire HomePortal or OfficePortal wireless gateway. These drivers work under Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP.

STEP 1 - Driver Installation
1. Make sure your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter has not been connected to your computer USB port.
2. Double-click on the file to run WinZip Self-Extractor. The driver installation files will be placed in your hard disk in the C:\TWWUSB_TEMP directory
3. Connect your 2Wire Wireless USB Adapter to an available USB port in your computer. Windows Found New Hardware Wizard will startup.
4. Select the option to search for driver in specific location. Specify C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP as the location of driver.
5. Follow on-screen instruction to finish driver installation.

STEP 2 - Wireless Configuration
1. Run the program WirelessCfg.exe in the directory C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP. You can do so by clicking on the Windows Start button and select Run. The Windows Start button is typically at the lower left corner of the screen. Type in C:\TWWGUSB_TEMP\WirelessCfg.exe to launch the program.
2. Follow on-screen instruction to configure your wireless setting. Enter the serial number and encryption key as they are printed on the bottom of your 2Wire wireless gateway.
