There are several do it yourself projects on the internet like this one:

http://www.astronomyforum.net/atm-diy-telescope-making-forum/80586-4-diy-refractor.html

and this

http://www.vintageprojects.com/telescope/3-inch.html

However I would suggest that you build a reflecting style telescope like this one. More aperture and lower cost.

Need to know how to use the telescope after it is setup

Lorraine, join a club or get instruction book. An optical telescope which uses lenses is known as a refracting telescope or a refractor; one which uses a mirror is known as a reflecting telescope or a reflector. Besides optical telescopes, astronomers also use telescopes that focus radio waves, X-rays, and other forms of electromagnetic radiation.

Need a manual for a 60 mm refractor telescope. Can you email me one? I purchased it through Amazon

alignment of the optics are critical. refractor telescopes refract light linearly as opposed to reflector scopes, which bounce light from mirror to mirror.

Sounds like you may have an obstruction blocking the passage of light.

What does reflect mean

The direction of light can be changed in 2 ways. One way is refraction which is usually done by a lens (eyeglasses do this). The other is reflection, most often done by a mirror. Telescopes are almost always based on reflection and/or refraction designs. A reflective telescope has at least one curved mirror, often 2 curved mirrors which focus light by reflecting a larger area of natural light on a smaller spot.

Can't focus!

Put the eyepiece with the LARGEST number written on it into the telescope. DO NOT use the 2x barlow if you have one.

Take the scope outside during the day time and practice focusing using this eyepiece on a distant object.

Blury Meade DS 90mm refracting telescope.

Did you break the mirror? --- or did you knock it out of alignment with the small secondary mirror in the front of the tube?

Contact someone at a local astronomy club to help you with collimation on the scope if nothing is broken.
