You need the Win7 camera driver, check sony support at:

just enter your Win7 operating system (there are 9 versions of Win7), and select the downloads (2)
for your computer camera driver.

Versions of microsoft Win7 - determine which yours is by (these instructions are for WinXP);

START > Control Panel > System > General (tab)

If it is running Windows XP Home Edition (Version 2002) it is not 64 bit it is 32bit. 64 bit only came in Windows XP PRO 64bit and Vista 64bit and Windows7 64bit

New OS is 64 bit versus old one at 32. Might need a different driver for different OS since 32 bit drivers will often not work on a 64 bit system.

Please install the Sony Shared Library and then install the Original Sony Visual Communication Camera to resolve the Camera issue. If you installed Windows 7 32 bit Operating System also, you can try installing the same Driver as the Drivers for Windows Vista should work under Windows 7 Operating System.
Sony Shared Library is the System component which makes the installation of the other Drivers compatible with the Computer.

Sounds to me like user rights, make sure you are logged in as an administrator,

You will have to go to Sony's site and download the drivers. If you ran "upgrade" on the system, this mostly gets done for you. If you chose instead to load a new O/S, the chances are not all the drivers are included with Windows--so you need to visit Sony to get them.

Absolutele,positively,but if you need confirmation go to Microsoft and run their program that checks compatability!! It was primarily made for best performance on 64!!
