Question about Diamond Multimedia ( VC500) Video Capture
1. checj the format and resolution settings you have in the setup screen
the highest setting for format is NTSC DVD 720x480
2. There are 5 formats that are use with this device
NTSC,PAL,AVI,MPEG-4, and WMV
3. the "Video" tab will show the radio dial selections for each format select DVD here and then browse for the the folder you want to store in on your hard drive.

Well did you install proper driver for your vc500....? if no then please follow the below link and download a driver, according to the operating system -
(Just uninstall any previous installed driver and install the new driver)
