Question about Philips Baby Care

1 Answer

Hi, I have a Philips SCD361 Monitor. Generally it's very good, picks up just the right level of noise. My daughter's room is across the other side of the house, so without it, I wouldn't hear her wake in the night. However, since I've had it (about 2.5 years), every now and then it emits a loud static sound. Often, once it starts, short bursts continue until I change channels (which involves me getting up, changing channel on baby's unit, and mine ... I don't like getting up in the middle of the night if I don't have to!) I've tried it with batteries instead of electricity in case of power surge, but it's made no difference. Any ideas? Is my unit faulty?

The issue you are having could be caused by a number of things but the most likely is either interference from a transmitter in the same frequency range or the Monitor has a failing capacitor on the board.

If you can think back to when the issue first started and check to see if you have any new devices that might be on the same frequency range and test them by turning them off for a while to see if it continues though this would not be effective if you live close to anyone else.

If that does not work then use high quality batteries and make sure the unit is placed far away from any windows in the room also make sure any florescent lights are not in use near the unit and make sure its not next to any thing else that uses a power supply that has the square box on the plug that includes using the same outlet.

This particular device use's a low frequency range around 40mhz which can be prone to interference more then a lot of the newer units that use 800mhz to 2Gighz.

If all of the above fails you will have to replace the unit or seek repair from the manufacturer if it's still under any warranty.

If on the 2.4ghz wavelength could also be a computer wireless network nearby? good luck with finding and isolating - worst case, take it back and get one on the 1.8ghz ... which is reserved for these devices, and cordless phones, etc

Annoying! happens to us too frequently, but this works. We ended up buying a new one and returning our broken one after owning for three months From Manual:) 5. Turn on the Nursery Unit using the On/Off switch on the side. The green power light should come on. 6. Within a few seconds, the Parent Unit will lock on to the Nursery Unit and the top four (4) green LEDs will shut off. A second later, you will hear a series of beeps and the connection LED should change from red to green. Your monitor is now ready for use. 7. If the top four (4) LEDs do not shut off, power off the Parent Unit and the Nursery Unit and repeat steps 4 and 5 above. 8. If the connection LED on the Parent Unit does not change from red to green and the unit begins to beep, press the channel "ch" button on the Nursery Unit. Within a few seconds, the Parent Unit should lock in on the Nursery Unit and the connection LED should change from red to green. You may hear an audible beep during this process. 9. If the Parent Unit is still unable to lock in on the Nursery Unit (connection LED will be red and the unit will beep), power down both the Parent Unit and the Nursery Unit. Wait for 10 seconds then hold the volume down button on the Parent Unit while pressing the On/Off switch. When the unit powers up, you will hear a single beep and all of the soundlights will illuminate. Release the volume down switch and within 2 seconds you will hear two beeps and all of the Sound Light LEDs will stay lit and the bottom LED will be red. 10. Repeat steps 5

SOURCE: Hi there, I have a Fisher Price Dual Private

Hi,

I had the same problem.
It turned out the batteries needed to be charged. I left the receivers plugged in for a couple of hours. I don't know if it matters but I had them turned off. They both work now.
I know you said the your monitors were charged so I don't know if this helps or not.

Make sure you have line of sight or are at least on same level,if you have diminished signal it could be electrical noise. You can then purchase a unit like a range extender ,simply configure it and plug it in a room where you need a stronger signal.this usually works, you can generally find these cheap on Ebay.

Hello.

Switch the monitors on your video card to see if the monitor or the video card port is the problem. If the same problem occurs on the left side with a different monitor, the video port is problematic. If the problem switches to the right side, the monitor is problematic.

Or, hook one monitor at a time to test on the right and left sides.

Hope this helps.

Hi - I have a MR SLIM MSZ A09NA HEAT PUMP. It is dripping inside the room. It was installed in 2008. Is seams to be loose on the wall. Is it supposed to be level? tipped to the right ?

An air conditioner should be installed so it's level. These appliances are designed so that condensate collects below the fan and runs into the slinger ring, which is made of sheetmetal and is part of the fan assembly. The bottom of the ring acts like a gutter to collect condensate. The fan then picks the water out of the ring and slings it against the condenser coils.
Recycling the condensate in this manner increases the coils' cooling capacity. Check the air conditioner for level -- front to back and side to side -- when you install the unit.
If it is tipped a little to the Front then you will Get water inside room.

When you put a normal load in the machine seems to get off sided and it walks out of position. If there is a little amount of clothes it is fine. What can I do?

you need to get out a level and put it on top of the machine, put it across from left to right and then adjust the feet by turing one side or the other in our out till the bubble on the level reads in the center., now take the level and put it front to back and do the same thing. if your machine is level it should not vibrate to the point that it walks across the room.

hi,
you can try using a good quality surge strip on the tv. if that doesent do it you could try a different outlet on the other side of the room, or try using an outlet from a different room(long extension cord) if that doesent do it you may have to move the tv to another wall.

Hi there, I had the same problem. My baby monitor used to work fine, and then all of a sudden it wasn't picking up my baby's cries. I used to be able to hear the static in the background, but I couldn't even hear that anymore. If I pressed the "sensitivity" button on the side of the parent unit, I could hear the static and my baby, but after a minute it would shut off. Very frustrating!
It turns out that somehow the sensitivity had been set to low. (Maybe this had something to do with the time I let my baby play with it...) I turned the sensitivity back up to high and it worked fine.
To set the sensitivity, press and hold the sensitivity button (located on the side of the unit) for about one second. There will be a number of blue lights that light up on the front -- the more lights that light up the higher the sensitivity is. (Mine was set at 2 out of 5, not very sensitive.) While the lights are on, press the + button (located on the face of the unit) to increase the sensitivity (or press the - button to decrease it, but that is probably not what you want to do if you are reading this post.) Press + until all 5 blue lights are on, and you'll be at max sensitivity. (You can adjust it later if this is too sensitive, once you find out of this fixes your problem.)
After a minute, your baby monitor will set itself to the sensitivity level that you set. So if the sensitivity level is really low, the monitor will seem to turn "off" after a minute. If it is high, you should still hear some static.
Hope this answer helps someone! I am really glad I don't have to take this unit back, I like it.

I have a Philips 30PF9946D/37 no picture

what you have is a bad inverter transformer on the inverter board. I nashed my teeth on this problem for a long time because no diagram is avail. Here's the fix for you:

Remove the invertor board. Take an Ohm meter and measure the outer 4 legs of each transformer. Between pins 1 and 4 (side with the white dot near leg 1) you should read .3 ohms. This side is usually good. Between pins 5 and 8 you should read approx 1.8 to 1.9Kohms. ANYTHING above that is a defective transformer. I'm sorry I do not have the part number for this, I've just been using an old board from a set with a cracked panel. If I can find a part number I will try to post. You can try Encompass parts on the web, they may be able to supply part number and transformer with location number.

Broken Screen

Man I feel for you..

You can have them repaired using a TV Repair guy but often it costs as much as a brand new tv. My daughter broke my $1,600 LCD. It would have cost $1,200 to fix.. so I just bought a new one. After that I picked up a TV screen protector called TV Armor http://www.tv-armor.com Its designed to protect the TV from damage. Now I dont have to worry anymore when she is playing near it. It works really well.
