Question about Computers & Internet

I have a D-Link DIR-825. I bought it brand new.

I have a D-Link DIR-825. I bought it brand new. I installed it, and it worked perfectly for about 2 hours, and then suddenly stopped providing a signal, except it would seem to work once in a while. This problem had me baffled, since it had worked fine before and then stopped working with no perceived changes in configuration, hardware, etc. I then discovered that this was a known problem with the D-Link DIR-825 revision B1 (which is exactly the one I have)and required a firmware update. The firmware had to be updated from its first version, something like 2.0 to 2.20NA or some weird number like that. Upgrading the firmware made it suddenly work perfectly as far as internet access and network connectivity. Suddenly the router worked perfectly, except for one problem that I am still experiencing, which I will explain below. The DIR-825 has a built-in USB port which can be used to connect various types of SUB based devices, such as a USB hard drive or a USB printer. I have connected a Canon MP530 (multifunction scanner, copier, printer) to the USB port, which, when I originally set up the router and it worked perfectly before it began malfunctioning (prior to the firmware upgrade) it is now not working properly. In other words, as I explained above, when I first installed and connected the DIR-825, the router seemed to work perfectly for a matter of a few hours, but then it began to severely malfunction, as it stopped providing any kind of network connectivity, AND the printer I had connected stopped working. At first, when it worked fine for the first few hours after it was first connected, I was able to connect both computers on the network to the printer connected to the USB port, and I was able to print on the printer from either computer. However, once the problems began (which were corrected only after updating the firmware as described above), the printer stopped accepting print requests and stopped printing. Specifically, when using the printer, the router works by creating what appears to be a local connection with the printer, and the shareport software (which is installed on all computers on the network which are used to print to the printer over the network) connects with the printer in order to make this apparently local connection. When Shareport (the software utility D-Link uses for this router to work with a printer) connects the computer with the printer, it shows a message stating that Shareport is connecting to the [printer name], and when it works properly, this message is displayed for a short few 10 or 15 seconds, and then it disappears and there is connectivitiy with the printer and documents can be printed. However, since the overall network connectivity problem has started (ad has since been corrected) this printing problem is still existent and was not corrected with the firmware upgrade. I have looked everywhere to try to find the fix for it, as I found for the first, major problem, but I can't seem to find a fix for this. If anyone has run into this problem before, I would appreciate any information as to what a possible fix would be.

Don't you have to "Bridge" connections between the USB & Ethernet? In the routers setup?

Limited connectivity

Limited connectivity (this phrase occurs first inside the WIN 8 OS) means, that you have connection with your router already, but NOT to the internet. Pls. check, if you have access to internet from other computers or smartphone connected via the same router.
If so, sometimes a driver-update for your D-Link could be useful.
Check also, if other wireless adapters are working with the same frequency, this may disturb. Try to change the channel or change from 2,4 GHz to the 5 GHz Channels, if the router & your D-Link Adapter will support this.
I had the same problem with my WIN 8 - PC and I had to change the (wireless) radio-channel.

Try a new working LAN cable between your internet modem and the router. Is your internet modem connected and working? You should be able to directly connect using a LAN cable to check the modem connection. Reboot your modem and router.

As of right now printing from the iPad is only "officially supported" by like 4 types of HP printers. I am not sure if yours is one of them (it is the newer ones for now). There are some tricks you can use (extra programs to install) that should allow all printers. Do you have a mac or a PC? If you have a mac follow this guide and it should work for you....

Remote storage drive won't (USB) network to laptop

In fact the USB port on the DIR 825 is meant for share port.

So if you plug in a pen drive it should work.
May be the storage drive which you plugged into the router is not plug n play or something like this.
