Long time to dry is a venting problem, check to make sure the venting isnt kinked or damaged... u can check by removing vent to dryer and running a load if drys faster than u know u must remove debri or replace venting or clean out ur ducting .....go outside when unit is on u should feel air if venting properly outisde....

tip u can use a leaf blower from inside and blow that line outside...

Contrawise it's actually possible for the thermostats to be corroded and the heat barely coming on, or the air going in to be supersaturated. Go fix up your vent piecewise until it's all satisfactory and/or get the brush-and-extension kit you put on a drill (and a power drill of some sort, if one's not handy) to clean your duct out. Put the 10 pounds of lint in the compost.

Dryer takes a long time to dry

If the dryer won't takes to long to dry, check the venting. A clogged or partially clogged vent will reduce the air flow through the dryer and greatly increase the drying time.

I have a GE washer/dryer Model WSM2700RAWWH stack type and the dryer is taking very long time to dry the clothes. Please advise if it can be fixed. If not what will be best alternate washer/dryer stack...

first things first. if any dryer regardless of brand takes 2-3 hours to dry cloths 90% of the time it is your exhaust duct. take the exhaust duct off the back of the dryer and dry some clothes if the clothes dry fast then you need to have your exhaust duct cleaned. either DIY or call a professional
if it still takes a long time to dry then it could be the thermostats or the thermistor.
but in my experience its normally the exhaust duct.

Remove the rear connecting vent and try a load at 45 minutes time dry. If it dries correct the vent blockage problem.
If not, let me know for step 2.

It takes a long time to dry a load of clothes

sounds as if you may have an issue with a blocked/clogged ventin, perhaps wher it leaves the home, a unit that is not able to expell the heat will tend to not dry the clothes properly, 2-3x to dry a good sign of venting issue
