SOURCE: My Superflue water heater is flashing Eco failure.

I have the same issue on a Superflue 6G50NVH 04. I don't see a red button and after I cycle it off and on, it stops within seconds. The water is freezing - so it certainly has not overheated. Is this something I can fix myself? How?

SOURCE: no power at all to my superflue water heater

Hi, first check and try and reset the breaker feeding the water heater. That should be a two pole breaker. The next thing to check is the red safety button on the top thermostat control. It is under the top access panel of the heater, along with a good amount of insulation. Push the red button to reset the safety switch. If these do not remedy your situation, then you will need someone on site to check the water heater in more detail.

Superflue. Why doesn't it stay lit?

If this is in a RV there is a propane monitoring valve. It will close and cut of the propane if it is not being used for a period of time or if there is a leak. The valve is mounted between the propane tank and the first appliance, usually inside the RV.

I have a John Wood one pipe power vented hot water heater. The model number is Jw840nvh-fv-04. Recently I've been smelling products of combustion coming out the top of the tank where the vent is

1) Copy following link for troubleshoot resources by type of gas control valve, Venting resources, and pro water heater forum:

http://www.thetankatwaterheaterrescue.com/forums/forum3/

2) This odor can indicate incomplete combustion due to lack of air supply. Get more fresh air to unit. Check that flame is clear blue color. John Wood is American/AO Smith product so air intake screen is located on bottom of unit. Use mirror and flashlight to inspect. Clean with compressed air ad or feather duster.

3) Jw840nvh is 40 gallon natural gas. Natural gas is lighter than air and rises upward, unlike propane gas that is heavier than air. Install gas detector at height correct for type of gas.

4) For safety, install CO carbon monoxide detector

5) Review product manual for correct vent lengths and diameters.

My Superflue water heater is flashing Eco failure. What is this? What do I do?

Hi,
The ECO is short for emergency cut off.
The ECO is either tripped or it went bad. You may be able to reset it or you will have to contact a rep the sells your heater to get a new part. Some are resetable and some are not... not sure which you may have. The reset ones will have a little red button to push in the center.
The next rpoblem is to figure why the ECO went or tripprd in the first place. There is probably a reason or a cause. When you refire it make surte you donot have flame roll out and proper venting. Also make sure the the thermostat works and is not letting it get too hot.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!
