TV Magnavox 50ML8105D/17 Problem

By wongpoleung on Feb 21, 2008

" "
Please help with my recent problem of the TV Magnavox 50ML8105D/17 Projection DLP HDTV playing normally (picture looks bright and clear) then after a couple of minutes of use the power cuts off and the error lamp indicator red light on the front display panel stays on (no blinking - solid red).
I can turn on the TV again but the same problem happens over and over....
Is the projection lamp going bad?

Thank you for your help and expert input!

Has this problem been solved? I have been experiencing the same thing. I also have a Sony which has started similarly, though it also tends to flash a red screen now and then before it shuts off. The light in front then blinks six times. Could this be the same problem?

-   I have the same problem. I am thinking it might be the cooling fan that sits just under the lamp cansiter. The fan has a lead that sends a control signal to the control pannel that turns off the TV if the fan is not spinning or spinning fast enough. I am trying to find a replacement part without luck so far.-   jconsoer

-   I thought I was going crazy until I found this information online. I am having the exact same problem! Can anyone tell me what they have done and if it is successful. I hate to get rid of the tv...and the tv repairman that came to my house to investigate charged me $125 for basically nothing. He didn't diagnose this problem...and wouldn't apply the cost toward any of the repair. Is there a product or parts recall that anyone knows of?-   size7nikes

-   The picture still lookes good I dont see any problems but from time to time the tv will shut down and the red lamp light comes on. but I can push the power button and will come back on some times it stays on other times it will repeat. If it keeps doing this ill flip the main power on the back of the tv off after 20min as its cooled down, this most of the time helps. If its just the bulb I can replace it but I cant be sure .....................-   Guest

I have the same problem my DLP TV would shut off after 30 minutes or less all red LED's. Solution: The fan on the lamp assembly was not turning at the proper RPM (bearing going bad) so it was going into overtemp mode. The original part number was a SUNON KDE1209ptv3 12v 1.3W I had a hard time finding one to match that spec. DIGI-KeyCorp (www.digikey.com) was able to cross reference it to a 3 lead P11034-ND part number (NMB-MAT model fba09a12L).

I Installed the fan and problem went away.
Procedure:
Remove the lamp from the lamp assembly
Remove the back panel.
From the back, slide the main circuit board to the left (loose one screw)
Remove the power interlock on the lamp assembly (2 screws)
Disconnect Lamp assembly cooling fan lead.
Remove the 4 silver slotted screws on the lamp assembly, 2 in the front and 2 in the back.
Carefully remove the lamp assembly from the rear. WATCH the Mirror.
Remove fan, cut leads and solder or **** splice on to the new fan.
Repeat steps for installation

I had this problem 1x. It was on a real hot night (i have no A/C). I took a fan and placed it right at the vents on either side and solved it.

I have the same problem but it seems to happen when the Temp. in my house reaches a certain degree. My guess is that it is running hot and shutting down. HOWEVER, yesteday the same thing happened but now my TV will NOT power up all the way. I hear a possible short when first powered on and then what sounds like the bulbs trying to fire up for about a second and then nothing. The large red light comes on and that's it. I actually have to unplug the TV to reset and try again but same thing happens. I took off back pannel and found out which circuit sounds like it is shorting out and it actualy glows when doing so. It is on a small board/pwr transformer that sends power to the bulb. Part number of the board is EUC 120 P/H11 The item that flashes and sounds like it is shorting out is round laying on its side and has a conector coming out of both ends and attaches the board. The number on this piece is 800 536 O This is all I can see.

Is this transformer or whatever it is shorting out and not supply the proper pwr supply to the bulbs or mirrors??
