Try disconnecting the power to your computer, open up your computer case, locate and carefully remove the lithium battery. It should reset the BIOS to its default settings.

Let me know what happens!

How can i have the password bios of laptop dell E6420

f you are running Dell servers, it is recommended to enable BIOS password. This is will prevent accidental changes done to Dell BIOS settings by others who get physical access to the server.

You can setup two different types of passwords in Dell BIOS:

System Password: This will be prompted before the system can boot up, and load the operating system.
Setup password: The system will prompt for this password only when you are trying to access the BIOS settings.

Depending on your situation, it might be a good idea to enable both the system and setup password at the BIOS level. I recommend that you at least enable BIOS password.
Press F2 for System Setup

When the Dell server is booting up, press F2 to start system setup, from where you can change Dell BIOS settings.

BIOS System Security

From the Dell BIOS main menu, scroll down to "System Security" and press enter.

Password Not Enabled

From here, you can see that both the System and Setup password is not enabled by default.

Enable System Password (and Setup Password)

Scroll to "System Password" and press enter, which will prompt you to enter the password that you like to set for the system. Please understand that if you set this password, you have to enter this password everytime you start the system. Do the same thing for Setup Password.

Don't forget this bios password. If you forget, then you have go through the painful process of resetting the Dell BIOS password.
Password is Enabled

Once you've enabled both the password, from the "System Security" menu, you'll see that that both system and setup password is enabled as shown below.

password is set

System Password Prompt (During Startup)

From now-onwards, anytime you start the system, it will not load the operating system, unless you specify the system password as shown below.

Setup Password Prompt (To Access BIOS)

If you press F2, to get to the BIOS, it will prompt for the setup password as shown below. If you don't enter a valid password here, you cannot access the Dell BIOS settings anymore.

I cant remember my login password and f8 does not work in safe mode still asking the password

Once you assign a password to your HP computer's BIOS configuration utility, you will need to enter that password every time you attempt to access the BIOS.
If you forget this password, don't fret there is still a way to unlock your BIOS without actually knowing the original user defined password.
This involves using a "backdoor" password, which is something that is installed onto your BIOS at the factory level that never changes.

Turn on your HP computer.
Press "F2" to load your HP BIOS access screen.
A password prompt will load on your monitor.
Type "merlin" into the password field (with no quotes) and hit your "Enter" keyboard key to unlock your HP BIOS password.

Need to reset bios password on Daytona-a rev 3.3 mboard

Enter the BIOS at power on, rather than booting windows, and go through the settings. Put in your old password and enter a new one as prompted on the screen.
If you bought this used, and there is a password from a previous owner, you can go to the system board and remove the small jumper that maintains the password lock for the BIOS. This should allow you access to the BIOS if you're locked out by a previous owner's password.

Hi

To bypass the BIOS password for your laptop press and hold Left Shift key and check if password is bypassed. If it is not then you would need to reset it. To reset the BIOS password you would need to remove the RTC battery on the motherboard and try and restart the laptop 2-3 times. With the laptop turned offf follow these steps--

  • Open Memory Cover
  • Remove Memory
  • Remove Black plastic insulation
  • Locate & Short CMOS CLR1 for 15 Seconds

  • Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

What is the power on password

You can add a Power On password to your computer or laptop for added security. When the system is first turned on it will prompt for the Power On password. Without it the computer will not continue to boot. Please note that if you forget your Power On password it is very difficult to reset access to your computer. These instructions include accessing the BIOS. Incorrect changes to the BIOS can prevent your computer from working. Please use these instructions with care

    To clear BIOS password!!!!
You can use following command in command prompt.
    c:>debug (You will see -)
    - o 70 2e (Just simply type o 70 2e)
    - o 71 ff
    - Q

This will work on most DOS version.

Try this. If it doesn't work pls mail to me. smile.gif

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
I already tested this command in win98.
    o mean open the address.

This doesn't work on bios system password. Just only for bios password.

    Reset BIOS password

ok, this time try to reset the bios using the jumper (small bit of coloured plastic near the battery) move the position of the jumper and hit the on/off button, the computer should not start if you have done this right, move the jumper back to its position and start the pc, go straight back into the bios and set the date and time, hit F10 and ok or yes and you should have full control of the bios.
if there is no jumper, remove the battery again for 10 mins and make sure the power cord is removed from the back, hit the on/off button a few times to drain any residual power, after 10 mins replace the battery and do what i told you to with the bios

    good luck
