Dryer shuts off

My dryer has been shutting off randomly. Even when I use the timer. Tonight I set it for 30 min pushed start , started to walk away and the alarm went off and it stopped. this happened 8 times in a row. Any suggestions?

Set the dryer timer for 80 minutes, it shut off at 70 minutes. I hit the start button again and it starts. It shut off at 60 minutes. It doesn't do it all the time, but enough to irritate me.

sorry, i forgot to ask the first time, is it digital or mechanical timer?...if its digital, would the 30 min you set would go down to zero and stopped on the display?. or it would just simply stop even there is still time at the dispaly?

Could be a bad timer. contacts are messed up. bacause it wont trigger the alam and turn off. or maybe, the pointer is out of calibration. i mean the pointer is not set to the correct position. you set it at 30 and you did not know is that you just set it 1 minute before off. that could happen.

Does it shut down completely? If it does, and the timer ceases turning, your problem may be a blocked vent pipe or Lint buildup.Your high limit switch is designed to kill power to your heater coils and sometimes the motor in case of overheat.

Gas dryer runs for 30 mins then shuts off.

This is a common problem that is not a good one. But the motor is goin bad. If you try to start it you will hear like a hum then start. Motor is going bad and over heating and shutting down on overload. Sorry. Hope this helps.

Kenmore dryer 70 Series doesn't shut off, timer continues to run

there are 2 different kinds of units made back then.
one has a push to start button that could have a stuck contact causing the unit to think you are pushing the button and want it to run again.
the other could have a stuck motor switch and thats not available separately. you would have to replace the motor. try to clean any lint out of the motor if you have that type. use compressed air to blow the lint out of the motor. it usually works to get the lint out and it can cause the switch to stick.

Kenmore dryer

IF THE DRYER COMES ON BY ITSELF WHEN THE TIMER IS SET AND THE DOOR IS CLOSED, THE PUSH TO START SWITCH IS SHORTED. THIS WILL CAUSE THE END OF CYCLE SIGNAL TO BUZZ WHEN THE TIMER IS IN THE OFF POSITION(END OF CYCLE).UNPLUG THE DRYER, REMOVE THE BACK PANEL OF THE CONSOLE, AND REMOVE ONE WIRE FROM THE PUSH TO START SWITCH. ISOLATE IT SO IT ISN'T TOUCHING ANYTHING AND PLUG THE DRYER BACK IN. SET THE TIMER AND CLOSE THE DOOR. IF IT DOESN'T START UP OR BUZZ, UNPLUG THE DRYER AND REATTACH THE WIRE. PLUG THE DRYER BACK IN AND SEE IF IT STARTS BY ITSELF. IF IT DOES, THE PUSH TO START SWITCH IS SHORTED AND WILL NEED REPLACED.
