I'm going to assume you mean the SX10 IS. If I'm wrong, please let me know.

This camera is a 10MP camera. It's best resolution is 3648x2736 pixels. To change the resolution:

Press the [FuncSet] button.
Press up/down to navigate to the current resolution.
Press left/right to change to the desired resolution.

This is on pages 80 and 81 of my copy of the manual.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

plug your SD memory card directly into the computer your photos should still be on them unless your daughter chose the option to delete the originals.  There is no hard drive in the camera.

Adjusting Pictures Resolution

you use the function button while in camera mode and scroll to the image size then turn the function dial to change it. you should consider taking your photos on the higest resolution, however, because SD cards are very cheap and you can get 8GB cards for under $40. Your camera came with a 32MB card which is tiny--you should throw it away. 8GB will store hundreds of 9 megapixel photos--i recommend having at least two SD cards. i hope this helps.

How can i change the resolution from low to high?

Change shooting mode dial to the shooting mode you want to use.
> then press Func. button
> Menu will appear.
>use the Scrool up down key to select menu item.
>go to the last item and select L and Fine.
After selecting you can press Func. button again.

This will select the highest resolution possible on this camera...
Enjoy

Grainy pictures

You have likely set the camera to shoot photos in low resolution, or high ISO or both. Check your camera manual for detailed instructions on how to set these options.

If you don't have your computer manual, you can download one from this page at Canon.com. This is for the Powershot S500, this is the same camera as your IXUS 500, they just gave it a different name in different countries.

Always set the camera to shoot in the highest quality resolution mode. Memory cards are relatively cheap and you don't want to end up getting that photo of the lifetime but because you shot it in a low resolution mode you can't get a good print!

If you are shooting in low light the camera may be automatically boosting the ISO. There are only 3 ways to shoot in low light:

1) Flash - only works when your subject is relatively close to the camera.
2) Increase the ISO which results in noise in the dark areas of the image.
3) Use a tripod and a long shutter (slow shutter speed).

Poor picture quality

Some one might have messed up with your camera.
some one might have changed the resolution, aperture, manual focus etc of the camera.
Try setting them according to your needs or try resetting the camera.

Poor Resolution

e sure the quality setting is the highest - 7 megapixels. Otherwise, why buy a 7MP if you shoot at 3MP. The Canon 750 seems to have excellent picture quality where the Olympus has soft focusing (reviews at C-net).

Low resolution on highest setting

Did you check the ISO setting - a high number there would possibly make the pictures grainy.
Hope that helps.

Camera takes a few low resolution pictures even when the settings are for high res pictures

You should take your camera to service.

Normal cameras are meant to work above 0 deg C (32 deg F), but usually they work even at -15 C (5 F). When you work below the freeze point there may some anomalies, usually LCD turns blue or purple but photos look OK on a computer. Sometimes the camera refuses to take photos or shows bad focus, lens zoom mechanics get stuck etc. And you always experience significantly shorter battery life when in the cold.

It's a good idea to keep the camera in a warm bag and take it out before shooting. You can also keep it under your coat if you're not practicing a sport like skiing (because of body moisture).
