I have an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop computer and i want to restore computer using Control pressed with continuous tapping of F9. will my computer maintain the windows portions present from my first use of this computer. I don't have any start up discs. I recently had to do this on my metbook Acer and it worked great. Can I do the same with the laptop I own.

I apologize but most of what you just said made no sense. Please clarify what is wrong, what you want to do, and how you think you would do it. In my experience, if you are having issues with a machine the last thing you want to do is a complete system restore. So if you are thinking of a Windows restore point, then in Windows you can go to the Start menu, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore, follow the prompts, and choose a day you want to roll back to.

Generally Acer recovery start with ALT+F10.
As soon as you restart the computer, hold down the Alt key using your left hand and start tapping F10 key using your right hand. Acer recovery would be started. Now, follow the on screen instructions.

usually you can press

Acer notebook usb not recognized

Sounds like a hardware issue. I would guess that there is a bad connection between the usb's and the motherboard. If you are comfortable dismanteling the laptop and re-soldering the usb's than give that a try, but I would recomend you give it to a pro.
Here is a link that explains the process. http://www.insidemylaptop.com/taking-apart-acer-aspire-5100-laptop/

My Acer aspire 5100

If you are able, when the pc is booting up keep pressing F8, this will take you to safe mode and not allow the graphics driver to run. When in the safe mode options, select either Last known good configuration or start windows in safe mode. Last known good configuration should find the last good system settings, when it reboots. Start windows in safe mode allows you to go into windows using the administartor account, and then you should select system restore and restore back to the day before or just before you updated the graphics driver.
