Question about GE Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a G.E profile washer, model WPRB9220DWW . 4 yrs old and it recently has been coming on by its own and girgling sounds as if the pump is sensing the need to. when it does this, no lights come on and can only stop it by unplugging. sometimes it spins and drains fine but at times leaves standing water in tub. could there be a sensor telling the pump to do this? its all digital l.e.d. controls ?????

Sounds like the control board has shorted out. There is only a 1 year warranty on this unit. The cost of the new control and touch pad are.
Part # wh12x10316 $ 295.00 #wh42x10503 $ 60.00 With this cost and no warranty it does not seem like a good idea to put money into this unit. You can purchase a good quality washer for around $ 500.00.

Hi!!
The "Metallic banging/clicking" sound you hear is the Shifter mechanism engaging or disengaging.
The drive system will engage at the start of the Agitate Cycle and disengage when the Agitate Cycle is complete. This occurs multiple times during the wash. GE claims this is a normal sound and should not be concerned about it. Check page 10 of your Operating Manual, if you do not have a manual, click on this link to download one http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90323.PDF

Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Some of theses models have a tendency of leaking out the side of the pump housing. In this case you will need to replace it. Here is a link to help disassemble and acess the pump.

GE Profile washing machine that will not drain

just remember your machine always has water in it so when you do get to the pump and pull of the hose to the pump alot of water is going to come out. some washer have no bottom so tilt it over and look the pump will be transparent so you should be able to see if anything is inside the pump. have a shop vac ready.(all the water)

Dish washer 3 1/2 yrs old making a growling/vibrating sound.

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

you may want to look at that pump again
for that model is rated at 8.5 ft
so it should be moving that water right along
when you have the pump hoses off put the unit in drain and watch the impella, it is quite possible stripped.

Leaking

Flooding like that usually means a bad drain hose or bad hose connection either at the bottom of the basket or at the drain pump. Need to check both.
