If you are referring to the brass colored clips, follow these steps:

1. With the lid of the washer casing open, grasp the case under front rim and place it on the washer frame. While looking down through the washer lid opening, make sure the front lip of the case is placed UNDER the washer frame base in the front.

2. Lower the washer casing back onto the side frames. Make sure the small cleats on the side frames fit into the slotted grooves on the washer case base. If you do not get the case seated correctly it will rattle and vibrate while the washer is in operation.

3. Make sure the back of the washer fits into the washer casing on each side by leaning over the front of the washer and grasping the back panel and pull towards you to seat it.

4. Reinsert the brass clips. Place the 90 degree bend of the clip into the slot on the back of the washer first, and then forcefully push the J-hook end of the clip down into the opening on top of the washer. NOTE: Once the clips are snapped back into place, the washer case should fit tight and not move on the frame.

5. REINSTALL LID SWITCH CONNECTOR. It is easy to forget. If you do not reconnect it, the washer will not work correctly.

6. Reinstall console.

I mention all these steps to ensure you have the washer case back on the frame correctly, and the back panel is seated as well. If not, the clips will not insert properly and the washer will rattle during the spin cycle. Step 4 refers to how to correctly install the brass clips. Remember to insert the 90 degree end of the clip into the BACK panel slot first. Then, push the J-hook end of the clip down in the opening on the top of the washer. You may have to use a little force. Once it snaps back into place the washer case should fit snug. If you still have questions, please let me know. I hop this helps you.

Need wiring diagram for a Maytag washing machine . Model #LAT9306AAE

That information is found in your form guide. It's generally located in a waterproof bag affixed to the inside wall of the washer. You need to open the the top to gain access to it. Locate two spring loaded clips approx. 6 inches in on either side between the top and bottom of the machine with a 2 inch putty knife/scraper. Once located, take the putty knife out and push in and up on the clip. I use a wood wedge to hold it up until I release the clip from the other side. The back of the machine top has a hinge so don't put it back too far. The bag should be on the left side. Just push the rubber seal on the top back a bit. If the bag is empty due to a previous repair, it maybe located under the back panel. Remember to always unplug the machine before you attempt any repairs.

My washer will fill and empty but will not agitate or spin

You have a direct-drive washing machine and the motor coupler (part number 285753A) is broken. It costs about $20 or cheaper and labor will cost you about $200. You can save the labor cost by following the steps below.

Motor Coupler Replacement Procedure
  1. Safety first. Unplug the machine.
  2. Remove the screws holding the console on the back of the machine. On some models, the screws are hidden under the console's removable end caps. To remove, pull the top of the end caps to the front of the machine. On some models, the console is secured to the machine by clips under the front corners of the console. Use a putty knife and insert the blade under the front corners of the console then push it until the clips are released.
  3. Lift the console then flip it to the back of the machine.
  4. Disconnect the lid switch wiring harness connector from the body of the machine.
  5. Remove the two clips holding the body to the back of the machine. Insert a flat-bladed screwdriver in the lip of the clip and and push it towards the back of the machine.
  6. Lift the lid and grab the front rim of the cabinet. Brace the cabinet with your knee then rock it to the front of the machine and pull it all the way.
  7. Pry the clips securing the pump to the motor. Turn the clips 90 degrees and remove it from the motor.
  8. Pull the pump out of the motor spline.
  9. Disconnect the wiring harness from the motor terminals.
  10. Remove the 1/4" hex-head screws from the clips that hold the motor in place.
  11. Pry the bottom clip away from the motor.
  12. Hold the motor at the bottom with one hand while prying the top clip away.
  13. Remove the clips and pull the motor out.
  14. Remove the motor coupler from the motor using a claw hammer.
  15. Reach behind the coupler in the transmission using a short flat screwdriver and gently pry it out of the spline.
  16. Place the new coupler on the spline of the transmission. Use a spark plug socket and hammer to tap the coupler into position until it is even with the spline.
  17. Do the same with the coupler on the motor and put the rubber coupling on the coupler.
  18. Align the holes on the rubber coupling and the coupler in the transmission in such a way that they fit together when the motor is installed.
  19. Put the clips back on the motor and the screws holding it.
  20. Reconnect the wiring harness to the motor terminals.
  21. Install the pump, the cabinet, and the console in reverse of the steps in removing them.

Replace motor coupler on top loader Kenmore washing machine

Hi, Are you asking how to change the coupler?
Here is how:
Removing the cabinet. UNPLUG the washer. There are two screws holding the control panel to the cabinet. Most models the screw are in front but, some models have the screws in back. They are on each end. Now raise the control panel up and let it rest on the hinges. Unplug the lid switch harness and locate the clips on each side (bronze in color) and release them.
Now the cabinet will lift off the frame and you can set it aside.

How to replace a coupler:
Now that the cabinet is out of the way, remove the pump from the motor and set the pump off to the side. Remove the two screws holding the clips on the motor and remove the clips. Unplug the motor harness and on some models you wil need to unplug the capacitor.
Now you will need to replace all three parts to the coupler. I use a ½” socket and a small hammer to force the coupler onto the motor and transmission shafts. Put the rubber part onto the coupler half on the transmission and then line up the post on the motor shaft with the holes on the rubber part and it should go on ok. Put the clips that hold the motor in place and plug in the harnesses.
Put the pump back on and the clips to hold it in place. Set the cabinet back on the frame. Make sure the lip on the front cabinet is under the front rail of the frame. Ease the cabinet on the frame making sure the two rear sides of the cabinet set down on the tabs of the frame.
Put the two clips back on that hold the cabinet and plug the lid switch back in. Fasten the control panel down and you are all set.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

I do not know how to remove the top from my whirlpool washing machine to replace the lid switch

Unplug the machine.
There is a screw at the bottom of the console on each end of the machine, remove them.

The console should then lift up and roll over the back(just make sure its supported or suports its self).

At the center of the machine there is a white plug, for the safety switch, unplug it.

On each side of the machine there is a brass colored clip, use a flat screwdriver and insert it into the front of the clip, push back smartly, this will release the clip. PAY ATTENTION to the way the clip comes out. (which end is the front of the clip) mark things if your not too handy so it goes back together easly.

This machine is put together alot like a puzzle so paying alot of attention to what you do will alllow you to put it back together.

The whole cabinet rolls forward, the sides along the bottom sit on an edge on the bottom, but the front is hooked UNDER the bottom edge. try to notice this. as you rotate the cabinate the front will fall free after you rotate the whole thing over about 45 degrees. The back will kinda float.

A quick guess would be the motor transmision coupler. You must first remove the two screws that hold the consul on, flip it back and pop out the clips (gold color on each side) to remove the cabinet. Look for the pump at the bottom front and remove the two clips and move the pump out of the way. The motor has two1/4 in screws securing two clips that have to be removed. between the motor and the transmision you will find the culprit.
