I have a 1998 isuzu trooper 3.1td. The glow plug light on tha dashboard stays on for as much as 10 minutes sometimes. The local garage has tried to fix this with no success. Any ideas? Can I wire in a push switch to control this manually instead of using the normal vehicle electronics to activate and switch off.

If the glow plugs are faulty,this would be the reason for the problem,they are not glowing very well,unless the glow plugs have been replaced,then the circuit from the glow plug relay is faulty,or the relay itself,

You have or more burned out glow plugs and likely will need a new glow plug timer control.

Need to know more. Is it petrol or diesel. If diesel is it the 3.1 or 3.0. Isuzu changed engines that year (1998) from 3.1 to 3.0 common rail.

I have an isuzu trooper 2002 model..it can not start..there's nothing wrong with the computer box..what do you think is the problem?

check the RPS (rear oil pressure sensor) and glow plug. I had this same problem 4 months ago, I even tried replacing the battery but the RPS and glow plug was the problem.

If the warning light is CHECK ENGINE, take your vehicle to your local Autozone. They will hook a scanner up to it for free and tell you what the code is. If you post the alarm code on this website, you will get a description back of what the potential problems are.

The last spark plug on 1998 isuzu trooper i changed the plug but now i cannot get the boot slide oto the plug properly is certain why to do this or maybe a little vasoline on the boot slide in better

has the small spring clip gone?if you push it downn hard and it stays loose then you may have to replace that wire(if replacing all wires take them off ONE at a time)

Isuzu trooper hard to start

Even though the glow plug goes out it does not mean the all the glow plugs are working,
Remove glow plugs.
With a set of jump leads connected to a battery connect the earth lead to the body of the glow plug and touch the top of the glow plug where the wire is connected with the pos lead the top of the glow plug should heat up and turn red.
Only replace the ones that do not heat up.

you can bring your vehicle to autozone or your local parts place for a "free" computer scan where you can then recieve the diagnostic trouble codes and address the issues at hand

If you live in the US Take it into an Auto Zone store and they will read off the stored code for you , once you have this you can determine your next course of action.
Other Auto supply outlets may offer the same service.

1998 Isuzu Bighorn Diesel. The car just won't start. My local dealer can start it using a cold start spray. But he has not been able to solve the problem. Please could somebody help

I have a 1998 Bighorn 3.0L if the wrong grade of oil is used in the motor it miss fires and runs rough, due to the injectors being oil pressure controlled, I have heard of extreme cases causing a failure to start when cold. good luck
