I just want to reset my pc to factory settings. when i boot up my computer i get a black screen with "press f2 for startup". Trying to play games on it is bad because the colors and graphics are all wrong, and they work just fine on a different computer. If your computer has a FACTORY RECOVERY partition then you can boot into that and restore your computer to like new state. WARNING YOU WILL LOSE ALL PERSONAL DATA. If it does not have a factory restore partition you must incert and boot from the factory image CD's you should have got these when your computer was brand new. You can order these CD's from the manufacture of your computer (for a price) if you do not have them. OR you could take your computer to a local computer shop and have them re-load it. cost varries from = $60 to $150 typically. I personally work for TechSupportPros of Spokane WA and would charge $60 for this service.

  2. Disable the Boot Booster Use the arrows to select the Boot tab. Click the Boot Booster option, then press Enter to disable it. Move to the last tab, then select Exit and Save Changes.
  3. Restart the Netbook Restart the Netbook, and press and hold F9 as the computer restarts until you see the loading screen. Click the "?" key to confirm when a message appears asking if you want to perform the operation.
  4. Wait as the process completes Do nothing as the restore process starts and completes. No human interaction is needed to finish the process. The computer reboots on its own and makes new configurations. The computer then automatically restarts again. At this point, the computer is now fully restored to its factory settings.

How do i reset my dell latitude x12 to factory settings

Hi Steven,
Boot the computer and watch for the black boot up screen. It will only show for a few seconds but somewhere through the boot process, a line message in white text will say...either 'to enter the bios press F2' or, 'to enter Setup, press F2'.
The F buttons are on the top row of your keyboard.
So press F2 at the appropriate time and you will find yourself in the Setup area. The graphics will look cruder than usual - that is normal.
Your mouse won't work to allow you to move you around in there, so use the keyboard arrow keys to move the cursor and 'return' to open other options and follow the instructions to move left, right etc.
Look for a command 'Restore Factory Defaults and Exit?' toggle to it to highlight and Enter. Then enter a 'Y' for yes, Enter again and the PC should re-boot and be as good as it was on day one.

Cheers,

Tom

Open the display and click the "Shut down" tab in the lower-right corner of the desktop. Click "Yes" to confirm. Then power on your laptop, and press the "F9" key when the logo screen appears. A menu will display with a list of three options. Select the "Restore Factory Settings" option. Select "Yes" when prompted, then press the "Enter" key to reboot. Wait for the system to restart, then agree to the licensing agreement when prompted. Confirm your name, password and time and date when prompted. Then wait as your computer reconfigures. It should now have the original factory settings.

How do I reset bios on emachine d3415

When you say reset...do you mean that you want to restore the bios back to their original factory settings?
That can usually be done from the bios (reboot, press either F2 or F10...the screen that displays upon boot will let you know what to press) ...there should be an option to re-set the bios back to the factory settings.....
But if that is not wat you are trying to do, let me know.

Edited boot config now computer beeps three times fans turn on high and screen stays black

    Hi,

You can restore the "menu" of the "startup" to how it was before.

The idea is to reset the CMOS/BIOS to the original factory settings.  There are 2 ways of doing this:
    1. Is to hit F2 again and look for Default Settings, click on that, save and exit; or
    2. (Preferably), open your PC and look for the reset jumper (3 terminal with 2 shorted via a jumper). This is normally located very near the backup Lithium battery. Temporarily, move the jumper to the opposite pair and replace back to original position after a couple of seconds.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turn up or should you need additional information..

    Good luck and kind regards.

    Startup problem

This could be a corrupt bios or a low cmos battery, follow instructions. Take the right hand side panel off the pc. Look for a disc shaped 3V watch type battery and replace (Very cheap) Look on the motherboard and reset the bios at the 'JBAT1' terminal put jumper(little plastic cap) from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 for a few seconds then back to pins 1-2. Restart pc and enter bios when prompted(or press F2 or DEL on startup) to set time and date, save settings and Exit bios. It should now boot ok.
