Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Dollar store batteries are even worse. Some may even have problems just powering startup of the camera. The best batteries to use with your camera would be rechargeable NiMH batteries. Walmart sells these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and may slap yourself for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Now if your camera is stuck half open/half closed due to the batteries dieing during startup, try to reset it by removing the memory card, and then starting the camera with GOOD batteries. If the camera starts (in error mode due to the missing card), shut off the camera, reinsert the memory card, then restart the camera.

No power with new batteries

Make sure you have strong enough batteries. I bought dollar store batteries and they won.t work on digital cameras. Try the regular, name brand ones. Good luck.

Lcd screen is damaged (smeary and doesn't clean). Maybe caused by fingers of young children. Looks like simple two screw replacement. Is replacing this feasible? Is so where do I find replacement parts.

Buy a used camera (sold for parts, with good LCD) through ebay.com. If you try to buy the LCD by itself, usually it is expensive. A camera can be bought for under $15. Buy a jewellers screwdriver set for $1 from Dollar store.

Look at the following web sites to get an idea how to replace LCD.

Try your luck.

Right to the problum i have a cordles phone GE900MHz it needs a new bett. i went to radio shack and bought a nexxtech it was 45 dollers it lasted 30 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whats up??!!!!! 30 days 45...

FixYa (this site) is an advice forum manned by volunteers. They do not make or sell batteries or any other item. FixYa has no connection to Radioshack or Nexttech or any other shop or manufacturer.

45 dollars sounds like a lot for a phone battery. I find cheap ones on Amazon whenever I need a replacement (search for your camera model plus the word battery), and I usually spend between 5 and 10 dollars. Once I got some for $1.50 each.

Where is the time/date battery located? My 635

Hi.
If you are using the batteries that came with the camera or just regular or Lithium batteries, this could be your problem.
At Walmart or any discount store, buy 2 NiMH rechargeable batteries with the charger. Believe me, years ago when I bought my first digital camera, the same thing happened to me. I was only getting a few pictures and the batts went dead, especially if I was using the LCD screen and not the view finder, or using the zoom which both of them take alot of power.
NiMH batteries are made to last using when using digital hardware.
Hope this works for you!!!!

Camera drains battery while off

Assuming you're fully closing the front slider cover, the power switch is activated by the front slider cover so it may not be activating the switch or sensing that the cover fully closed. Sounds like it needs a professional service.

What type of battery are you using? Do you have the right battery setting?

The camera's battery setting is set to "Coolpix" as the default (the original batteries it came with). If you're using regular alkalines, be sure to change this setting in the camera (Menu > set up > battery type > alkaline).

When the batteries ran out for the first time, I bought cheap dollar store batteries, and when I put them in my camera, it shut off immediately when I tried to turn it on, despite them being brand new. I found out this was because the batteries didn't have enough juice to power my camera. I replaced them with Duracell, and it worked fine after that (Panasonic, another dollar store battery works okay too).

Hope that helps.

Kodak z650 won't go on, please help

If you have an EasyShare printer dock or AC adapter, try those. If not, you will have to have it repaired, unless your battery is dead or the connections in the battery bay have a foreign object or corrosion blocking the connection.
