Same issue here too, I havent used mine in over 5 years because I lost the power adapter, found it today and it worked like new, next thing i know the tape wont come out. I fiddled with it for about twenty minutes and got it out, I switched the tape and playback was blocky with no audio. AHHH what is wrong with this thing??????

I have the same problem with this camcorder. I have had this camcorder for nearly six years, and three years ago had the screen go black on me, so I sent it in, letting Canon know that I did read many issues with the black screen. Turned out to be a known defect, was fixed for free, shipping included and all. Now my eject won't work, and it already ate one tape in the camera before problem was realized. Have to send this out again, shipping on me, and charge to fix probably on me as well, even though I have also read about this problem being common in this camcorder. I have to say that I barely use this camcorder as it is, and I've had two major issues with it already where it's had to be sent out. Very frustrating. Depending on the cost to fix, I may end up buying a new camcorder instead. It does not get used enough to have these kinds of issues with it. Very disappointed.

Same problems as the others. I use the camcorder about 3 times a year and now my tape won't eject. After playing around for about a half an hour I finally got it out. Anyone have a solution or know what it will cost to fix?

Try ejecting cassette whilst powered from AC Adaptor. Secondly, try operating Eject from powered off mode. If operation LED starts flashing after any of these attempts, the mechanism is probably jammed or has become mis-timed. Unfortunately this requires professional intervention to avoid further damage to your equipment.
I hope this information is of assistance!

Tape mechanism problems are quite complicated but they can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it’s not a user serviceable problem and will need to be diagnosed by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I’m a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I’m semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

My camcorder is on a safeguard mode, how do i take it out of the mode

Please go further down on the message, you must see a numeric code, like 03, or 02. In case you'll see 03, open the cassette door(let it open until cassette come out) about 5 sec or more(make sure you have enough batt. charge or use adapter). Once ejected do not use that cassette again. Using new cassette and same thing happen, have your camera checked by the expert. Error code other than 03, you need to consult the expert. Hope it helps

I have an Elura 90. The cassette door opens but

When ejecting the tape you must hold the eject switch down for a full second. There are two stages to the eject process just as there are with the insertion of a videocassette. Hold the button in position long enough to hear the motor mechanism start.

Have a jvc camcorder turn on and it says safe mode remove battery

Forget the battery, the mini dv carrage assy can get out of sync and initiate the safe mode, if you noticed a problem loading the tape or have heard a gear skip sound thats the problem. The best you can do with those camcorders is keep the tape in the camcorder!!!!! That will prevent the problem and insure many good years of recording.

Sorry,

Tim.

Cassette doesn't load and move down into machine

I had the same problem. With the camera on, keep taking the battery off and putting it back on. Start to close the door and then open it. Eventually you should hear it try to move. Keep doing it and it should move down all the way.

E04

Here's what i found. I was able to clear the message by opening and closing and ejecting the cassette. I also had to play with the battery at the same time. Keeping the cassette door open and then pulling out the battery. After is did this a couple of times i got the message to clear. I too haven't used my camcorder for some time and now that the error message has cleared the camcorder tells me that i need to clean the heads. Hope this helps. Below is the message i found that pointed me toward ejecting the cassette. An error indication (E03 or E04) appears. - (E03 or E04 UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE REMOVE AND REATTACH BATTERY) This massage a malfunction of some kind has occurred. In this case the camcorder's functions become unusable. - Eject the cassette once and re-insert it, then check if the indication clears. When it does, you can resume using the camcorder. If the indication remains, consult your nearest JVC dealer or service center
