The manual with pictures is available here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00877796.pdf . Page 9 has the optical disc removal steps. The steps are remove the cover then remove the front cover (press two tabs apart at the bottom of the cover and the two tabs on the top together. push that out). If your computer has a Pocket Media drivem lift the tab on that cage and pull it back and out of the chassis. Disconnect the power and data cables from the back of the drive, noting their orientation. The power cable gets gently rocked back and forth; pull the tab on the data cable. Disconnect an audio cable if needed. Remove the screw from the side of the optical drive and pull the latch away. Push the drive forward and out without tilting it.

Now you should be able to locate the memory sockets.

I hope this helps.

Most slimeline cases have DVD that remove from the front. That is you will have to remove the front plate of the computer to slide the DVD out. Close to the inside corners on the front usually are compression fit plugs that snap into place, ocassionaly screws but not often. Take your time and slowly push them outwards once you have all of them loose on one side you can gently rock the front back and forth until the other side dislodges.

It is important to not use excessive force or you could break the pins in which case you will need to have some glue handy.

Hp pavilion slimline s3100n doesn't display on the monitor. boots fine and fans spin and stuff, it just doesn't recognize its own VGA output. What do i do?

Hi
First, try hooking it up to an external monitor if you have access to one.Unfortunately,we need video to start checking for what may be wrong.
Try the monitor and post back to let me know what happens, and if it shows on the external display we can start looking at potential problems and fixes.

How do i remove the dvd from an hp s3100n desktop.

You need to take the cover off the computer on both sides. Normally the optical drive is secured by four screws, two on the left and two on the right. Take those screws out and slide the drive forward enough to get to your memory stick. You may not have to unplug the cables, but if you can't slide it out far enough you will.

Hey there, sounds like it is stuck in your drive? Simple, there is a small hole in the front of the drive, put a paperclip in there to push the drawer out

Ok, what you've got to do are the following.

1. Remove outer cover. (you've obviously already done this)
2. Remove holder for personal storage device.
Pull up brown/black lever untill the unit lifts up and out
3. You can now see black screw holding in DVD/RW Drive - remove it.
4.Lift latch that you described
5. Push DVD Drive forward until you can access the memory

I need to reset the ram on a hp pavillion slimline

The DVD drive should have one or two small phillips head screws on the side that will allow you to slide the drive out through the front of the PC. Just be careful that you don't damage the ribbon cable when you do this.
