What is the difference between dvd-r and dvd+r

Most of the time you can find this out by looking at the drawer front of your drive it will say something Like DVD+RW or -RW to let you know the difference, if it says MULTI Recorder or has DVD/+-RW it uses both.

If the drawer does not say something, then your best bet would be to open the control panel and device manager, click on the dvd drive and find the model of it and google it for specs and you can find that way.

Eject dell e6420

Eject what a Cd or DvD? If you can't get it to eject by pressing the eject on the drawer, try opening My Computer, then right click on the CD/DvD drive and select Eject. If it still does not eject you will need to straighten out a paper clip, get on your knees and look for a tiny hole on the cd drawer. Stick the paper clip into that tiny hole and push the drawer open.

Dvd r/rw drive

You can open it with a paper clip through the tiny hole in the front panel. Insert the paper clip and push, the drive drawer will come out. As far as fixing goes these drives are so cheap they are considered throw away.

you can at least get the drawer open and take out the disc by 1) detach power 2) straighten a paperclip and push it through the small hole just above the green indicator lamp below the drawer. If you figure out the next step pls tell me!

My Philips DVD R/RW Drivde DVD8631/96(manufactured 2005)has died

Honestly, head over to a local computer shop and grab yourself a new OEM DVD RW. It should cost you somewhere in the range of $30. Don't go somewhere like BestBuy, as you will get charged obscene prices.

Make sure it has the right connectors, as many DVD drives are SATA these days. If you're not sure which you have, just bring it with you, and the staff should help you select the correct type.

Sony DVD RW DRU-820A

HI,
Double check the Ribbon Cable Connector is installed Correctly ( 40-80 Strand IDE ) sometimes if these are not fitted squarely Or pushed in hard enough. Can cause a Problem.
Also try the emergency eject procedure on The Drive. Small jewellers screwdriver Or Needle, insert into the drives faceplate ( pinhole in drives faceplate drawer ) push to open dvd drawer. pull out drawer Gently. And push back in. This ocassionally works for a stcking Drawer/eject mechanism.
Finally try the drive without a disk in ( open/eject Or Close )
