My Magnavox DVD reads disc error

QUICK ANSWER

A disc error may be due to having the wrong type of DVD in the player, having a dirty disc in the player or the disc having scratches or cracks. When it comes to the type of disc, it must be compatible with the DVD player for it to work.

FULL ANSWER

When this error occurs, pull the disc out of the player and look at the underside for smudges and fingerprints. If these are present, using a soft cloth to gently remove them generally solves the problem. Cracks and scratches generally require replacing the disc because they prevent it from working.

My naxa built in dvd isnt comin on

If dead and will not respond or door will not open etc it may be a power supply issue in the DVD unit.

If it does open or close but will not "read" or "no disc" etc it is either a dirty or bad optical pickup.

In most cases if the unit is bad (DVD) it is cheaper to just buy a player and hook it via the rear audio video jacks...............

Disc error

It means either the optical pickup trying to read the disc is dirty or bad.

If bad--it may not be cost effective to repair that unit.

Hi, my philips dvd player model number dvp3360/05 has stopped reading disks. Wjen it loads a disk instead of going to the start screen it just goes blank and on the LED display it says title. Any ideas on...

Hello,

There are several reasons why your DVD player would stop reading discs.
1. Bad or dirty lens
2. Bad disc spinner motor
3. Busted capacitors on the mailboard

If you can open up your DVD player. Try to check for these problems.

Dvd slider door won't close.

Hi, is it fully open, or just partially open?
Is it nearly shut but just jammed? If so have you tried inserting a flat peice of plastic and pulling the draw open. You could do this with no power to the dvd player, It might be that you haven't inserted the disc properly and it is wedged in.

Try all this and see how you get on.

OPEN error stays on when disc inserted

There is a pressure switch that gets pushed down when the disc door is closed. Ether the arm on the switch is busted, the switch is bad or a busted wire to the switch.

Panasonic DMR-E55 DVD Recorder won't read most dvd-r brands

Hello jancinn,

This might be due to a dirty pickup or scan laser head, or the optics as a whole might be going bad (both are common problems). A qualified TV repair person should be able to determine if the scan laser or pickup head are bad by doing a laser power test. If the optical devices are dirty it is just a simple matter of cleaning them with a DVD cleaning disk, however if the optics are bad, then replacing them is actually cost inefficient, and you may want to think about getting a new DVD player/recorder.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,
