Question about Hitachi C10FCE2 10" Compound Miter Saw

1 Answer

I reassembled the blade guard after cleaning and found that the blade guard prevents the saw from lowering. Is it possible to get the spring in backwards? If I move the guard up an inch, everything works great.

Had the same problem with the dewalt, either the lifter arm is bent just enough or some thing is worn just enough, we put a zip tie on the part where the saw comes up to rest and it works fine.

How do I find a replacement part - Lower Guard and spring for a CSS1000

Dear Mr. Liles,
I am assuming that you are referring to the Black & Decker CSS1000 circular saw. Most parts for this tool, including the lower blade guard and spring are available online for about $20 or so (less shipping) from a variety of online tool replacement part providers.

Some companies to consider looking at are Toolparts Direct, Ereplacement parts and Sears. There are other parts suppliers as well, and I in no way endorse or recommend one company over the other. For reassembly purposes, diagrams are also available for your saw on the same sites.

Good luck in your search,

EB

Ryobi TSS100L blade guard spring

I think what you are refering to is a circlip washer , and can only be
fitted with ( CIRCLIP PLIERS ) do you know any Michanics or Engineers as they are bound to have a set in their toolbox ,on the other hand you
can buy them. What they do is work in the opposit way normal pliers do
when you squees the handles together the jaws open, therefor opening
the (CIRCLIP ) and allowing you to place it over the pin and into the
recess. Hope this has been of some hellp goodluck T.C.

Install spring on 345 guard

As you are looking at the blade side of the saw, the spring hooks through a hole at about three o'clock on the lower guard. It then wraps around the bottom of the guard clockwise and attaches to the upper guard. The hole on the upperguard should be somewhere around ten to twelve o'clock. Move the lower guard to check for binding and full return to the safe position.

I have a Porter Circular Saw, 18v, Cordless, 6 and a half inch blade. I'm a novice, so I unhooked the wire latchet that held the lower guard on. I figured out how to put the saw blade on, yet I have the...

Remove the battery, take the blade back off and you will see the holes for the torsion spring. what you will have to do is start putting lower guard on but pretenstion the spring so it will fit back into the proper holes, it might be a benefit to remove the small bumper so that you can move the guard more. when installing the blade you don't remove the lower guard just retract it and slide the blade in place. Usually there is a retaining ring to hold the guard in place but I looked at a breakdown and didn't see one. Let me know if you need more assistance before voting please. Thank you

Replacing the blade guard spring

there is a hold in the lower guard for the loop and the other end wraps around the guard slightly and there is a hole in the back of the upper guard. You can go to Milwaukeetool.com and download a breakdown for the tool Also when you have the blade off I would try using compressed air to clean the area and spray some lubricant on the hub to lubricate. The guard should "snap" back when done sawing. Let me know if you need more help

How do I install the spring after changing the blade on the Makita 10 miter saw

what spring? do you mean the one in the guard? if so you don;t have to remove it to change the blade, give me the exact model number or you can go to makitatools.com and download a breakdown that shows the reassembly of the guard, it is not that hard, and also you can download an owners manual that shows the proper blade replacement procedure.

I am missing the part that brings the guard back when you lower the saw blade

I am assuming that you have some type circular saw?
Most popular saws use a spring to return the guard, with the saw unplugged raise the guard and see if the spring is there(you may need to take off the blade) if it is not there, replace with proper spring.one end of the spring will hook onto the fixed 1/2 of the guard the other to the front of the moving guard(consult manual if possible).once this is done insure that the guard mover freely and is not in the way of the blade.Replace the blade in proper direction check guard again for proper travel, make sure everything has been re-tightened .
If the spring is there check for material build-up or debris that is causing
guard not to move, remove blade clean debris or obstruction, replace blade and check for proper operation. Also visually inspect where the moving guard is attached to the saw for any unusual marks or wear this could be a sign that some type of unsafe situation exists,if this happens refer to a pro to fix or buy new never use a saw without a properly working guard,it took 141 stitches to repair my friends leg.

I'm trying to figure out if I need to hold the lower blade guard up while the saw is running...there is no lock for it

No you do not need to holde the lower blade guard up. It should be spring loaded and move upward as it engages to piece being cut. depending on what you are cutting, you may need to hold it up to start the cut, but then it can be let back down while cutting. It is a safety feature designed to keep as much of the blade covered as possible during use.

Can not get blade guard to operate correctly

These guards have stops that prevent them from coming down too far. I is possible that you may have inadvertently past the stop and now it's working to not let the guard up. It's a shot. Good luck.
