I turn the oven setting to "Bake" and turn the temp knowb to 200, the lights come on automatically after afew seconds to indicate that it has powered up and the gas pilot comes on but the oven's main gas dosnet come on. I have triesd different combinations of the cooking button (the veseel icon with heat waves) and the timer button; setting times for both, 1 of them seperately and all the combiantiosn thereof but to no avail.. I have also tried looking for manuals but havent been successful. Please help!!!

It sound like you have a valve problem some types of ignitors have a heat release valve, by hitting it you cause this to release, I would suddjest replacing the ignitor unit but this requires a Gas Fitter that is approved, as all sorts of tests, requires specialised equipment, if you have gas central heating, the service engineer could perform the same for your cooker. remember to ISOLATE MAINS POWER if this model uses it for ignition.
Hope this has been helpful
After getting an electrician out, apparently the time needs to be set on the oven. As we're in a rental & don't have a manual/ couldn't download one, we got it to work after holding the first two buttons in (the timer buton + the one that looks like a hot pot) along with the + button at the far right, which made the tim tick on, so it could be set.
