Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W50 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My Sony DSC-W100 says "Turn the power off and on again" but still wont take any pictures! The screen just stays black. Anyone know what is wrong with it and how much it will be to get it fixed?

When i turn the camera on it says "Access" and then "Turn the power off and on again". I have turned it on and off over and over again! The lens comes in and out 3 times but i can't see what is wrong with the lens (as it looks normal!). At first i thought the battery must have ran out so i charged the battery but i still have the same problem! Does anyone know what is wrong with it and how i can fix it? If i have to send it to someone to get fixed does anyone know how much it will cost, or should i just buy a new camera? i got the same problem i turned on and says acces. and comands you to turn the pewer off. then i do it and dont do anything nathing. please help.

Hi we have the same problem with our Cyber-shot DSC-W85.

My son had the exact same problem with his DSC-W50. I was just about to spend $111 after it not working for months. I read the solutions listed here, banged it on my palm 4 times and WOW - it works perfectly now.

Thanks for saving me $111 and lots of aggravation.

OMG - I had the same error, when I turned the camera on it said "Access" and then "Turn the power off and on again".
I have turned it on and off over and over again! THANKFULLY I took "Guest's" advice from September 12, 2007. After hitting it a few times on the carpet, I still received the error, BUT while the lens was retracting in and out I hit the top of the camera beside the power button with my knuckle and it WORKED!!! I can take a picture again. Thanks so much for the advice. Hope this helps others.

Hello, there is a problem with the optical unit (lens). Normaly when the camera is in camera mode the lens should go out. In your case it seems that for some reason the lens is stuck. Please contact your nearest Sony dealer. If you want to repair the camera yourself please tell me. I can send some additional info as well. Regards, Arpi
